Lenovo ThinkPad 750 GB 2.5" External Hard Drive 0A65616

Has all the storage space I need and keeps me fearless --- worry free --- while traveling or at home because of its (my) personal required coded entry. I am reticent to travel with any other type of storage, external drive thumb device, SD Disk. I am reticent to have conventional external drives sitting around the NYC apartment.This quality device gives peace of mind and holds my banking-money data and secret files locked from all the world's evil doers.. I have two of them just in case.

I am pretty computer savvy but I had terrible luck with this product. I liked the sized and convenience of the locking system, if it had worked. Right out of the box I had I could not get the unit to give me write access despite following the instructions exactly. After navigating their convoluted phone tree of numbers Tech support could not even find the product or knew what it was. Finally the gave me an RMA so I returned it. The second one would come on but only with their default enter code. It would not allow me to put my own code in. I went through their tech support gauntlet again and still know one seemed to know the product. They finally returned my money and I sent it back. I will never buy another Lenovo product.

Great external drive. Works flawlessly! No problems. Provides security too!. What could be better?

I bought this drive directly from Lenovo and have had a pretty good experience. I was happy to see them offered here on Amazon now, because the shipping takes too long from Lenovo. The main reason for purchasing this drive was to protect highly confidential information without using TrueCrypt or similar encryption software. This drive delivers on that hands down. We have never had any issues with the built in software or passwords. I have stored the drives for over 5-6 months and picked them up using it with no issues. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the enclosed instructions show you how to access the .pdf instructions guide. Since this is a secured drive, why would you not have this readily available when opening the box? This would cause me to knock off a half point to 4.5. Outside of that, you can’t go wrong with this drive. If you order from Lenovo, allow some lead time because it took almost 20 days to get them. I happy to see Amazon is starting to stock up on the 750GBs. This is what we use regularly.

First thing, I cannot say one thing or other about the promised encryption; I bought this device not for tinkering and tampering with, but to actually use as an (ostensibly) secure external HDD.The HDD came with a simple black soft carrying case, a splitter cable (if one USB port doesn't provision enough power), and an instruction manual to get started with. It seems to do its job properly; it won't let you access the contents unless you enter the right code on the keypad - and if Windows refuses to let you dismount it "safely", you can push the red button to forcefully eject the disk. Build quality seems pretty solid, and performance so far has not disappointed me. Only thing bad is the higher price per gigabyte - but then again, you are getting a business-grade product, with hardware level, OS independent, user-configurable encryption. That is something most portable hard disks don't have.

Great product - I've tried to hack it (opened the box, changed the cables and some circuits then I moved the plates into another drive and the data was securely encrypted ...

Gutes, sicheres Produkt, wenn man die Bedienung einmal verstanden hat. Allerdings fängt das Gehäuse nach einiger Zeit an, etwas zu kleben.

Technisch:Funktioniert super und hat grosse Vorteile in der Handhabung, da man nicht zusätzlich mit TrueCrypt oder ähnlichem hantieren muss.Anhängen, Code eingeben - off you go - bindet sich grad ein.Hab das "Teil" immer dabei...Praktisch auch der integrierte USB-Anschluss!
