Great blaster, makes an impression on the battlefield.
Fires the larger/heavier Mega rounds - people know when they get hit, and if you play outdoors, the wind doesn't get as much of a hold on your shots. It's also intimidating on the battlefield!Reloading is slow - you need to reload three or four chambers on each side, then grip the cylinder and rotate it manually (takes some force) and then reload the last three or four chambers to get a full reload. But with ten chambers you don't need to reload very often. It's a little inaccurate but this is a Nerf gun not a sniper rifle. It's got a good rate of fire and rotates its cylinder when you prime, not when you pull the trigger. Ambidextrous. One downside (not serious enough to knock off a star though) is that those of us with big hands will get a bruise on whichever hand is holding the foregrip - you'll hit the area behind your thumb against the curve of plastic that protects the bottom of the cylinder. This is not serious because it's easy to fix by a "case mod", i.e. removing that plastic bit with a hacksaw. This also improves reload speed.I attached a sling and used this as my primary and a six-dart revolver as my secondary. With sixteen shots and a good rate of fire I won most of my skirmishes during my neighborhood Capture the Flag game.

Amazingly painful/
Every Christmas, my husband and I like to purchase my nephews toys to annoy their father (my brother). One year we bought annoying electric guitars and the Christmas after that we purchased them Hulk fists to beat the crap out of each other. I really needed to find the ultimate gift that wasn't too expensive in case they broke it during one of their rage sessions. My nephews are 11 and 7. They enjoy to torture each other. Found these Nerf guns. I was skeptical at first because the price was too good to be true. But the thought of them shooting my brother (their father) in the nards, made me have to purchase two of these. I am so happy I did! They hurt like a son of a gun when you get hit with one of the Nerf bullets. Every one in the house was scared to get hit with one of these when my nephews were playing with them. I felt like our goal was accomplished. Thank you, Hasbro.

Great Nerf Gun for the price
8 yr old was begging for another Nerf gun, because his little brothers keep taking his. This Mega is perfect because it's a little larger than the standard Nerf fare and a great value. It requires a larger kid to cock and load each bullet because the mechanism is on the non trigger handI also like that the new mega series bullets are more durable than the smaller bullets. Our standard and Elite bullets get smashed easily and don't last. Also, FWIW we bought the Yosoo 60 pack of MEGA darts and love them. I think this is a must have combo.Pros: Great size, shoots far, comes with 10 MEGA bullets, sturdy and durable, preferred gun by all 4 of my boys.Cons:The only drawback with the gun is how loud it is. We woke up to an epic nerf gun battle the morning after his birthday because we could hear the constant reloading of the gun action.

Slam-fire Mega; aftermarket caliber conversion via Worker available to use standard Elite darts.
What a showy blaster, it came in regular packaging and it still looked like it came right out of a showcase at a toy show convention. My initial thought was that it was in desperate need of a shoulder stock, because not only was it missing the attachment point in the back like I was accustomed to seeing on other Nerf blasters, but it didn't have anything at all, like the designer didn't finish drawing up the design and left a blank space. Upon using it, I found it's operation to be slightly louder than I had expected. I also found loading the darts to be irritating as well because you have to turn the cylinder manually in order to fit all ten Mega darts in place; It clicks loudly per cylinder segment turned, and sounds almost like you are breaking it (the directions say to turn the turret manually to load the ammo, so whatever). The front priming handle looks too close to the front of the blaster, and even feels awkwardly so. Even using it requires some attention to avoid hitting your hand on it or smashing your thumb because it is also to close to the rotating mechanism. Had the designers at least gave the Rotofury the same design feature as the Doominator (Zombiestrike Nerf blaster with a variable repositioning priming handle) this problem could have been avoided. You see, the Rotofury has slam-fire, unlike it's brethren in the Mega series (namely the Cyclone Shock). For those of you new to Nerf, slam-fire is when you can hold the trigger down and pump the priming handle in rapid succession to automatically fire a dart per pump. In this case there are ten big red Mega darts that do not fit in any blasters except for those in the Mega line (and the new Air Max line from Buzzbee), and the averaged velocity reading from those 10 shots as recorded by my Prochrono Digital chronograph was 67 feet per second (FPS). To make things even better (or more dangerous, depending on how you look at it), there is a new aftermarket product released from the Chinese modification company "Worker," that can convert the caliber of the darts in the Rotofury (and a different sized set for the Cyclone Shock) to regular Nerf Elite darts (the small blue, green, white, orange, and decorated Rebelle darts). Shooting smaller darts using Worker's individual chamber inserts with the same air pressure that was designed to propel a larger mass Mega dart will make this blaster into even more of a beast, however, the accuracy of the darts are pretty bad due to that excessive pressure and not enough "barrel" to guide it in the desired direction. Therefore, the term "effective range" would come into context, meaning the blaster can shoot darts far but only consistently hit the intended target at closer ranges than what it can reach (i.e. reaching say, 80 feet, but only able to hit the right target within 25 feet away).

Requires a little strength
Probably one of my sons favorite guns. This thing had some monster size darts compared to the traditional ones. Our thought was these darts would be easier to keep up with but our son proved us wrong there. Aside from that the gun has did well and still holding up. It has never jammed to my knowledge. Be ware these darts can deliver a good sting even at a distance if playing war. Not sure on the age recommendation but he was 5 and did struggle to cock it for each shot. He cleverly came up with a solution by sitting the stock of the gun on the ground and pushing down on the pump arm. So it does require a bit a strength to use it.
