To be clear the 1st one was a different brand the other 1 was a Is female instead of a male. This one the pictures matched what I got and it works very well. So if you have an older print as it has a parallel port and a newer computer with the USB port this will do it. When you plug it in you should be able to go to the settings of your printer and select the USB port to print to. Just look under the porch tab and then look for the USB connection.

Ok, the cable itself gets five stars. Win10 significantly less. Puppy Linux (Tahrpup 6.02) immediately saw the printer and started printing stuff it had in queue from failed attempt using a generic converter cable.Win10 sees the printer through this cable. Printer becomes active, but prints out an error message rather than what I want it to print. Obviously it doesnt like the driver. I was using the HP universal 64bit driver for windows. Still trying to find a driver it likes. And no, autoupdates not helping, my win10 magic Microsoft pixies are on strike.UPDATE: Ok made mistake of believing claim that PLC6 universal printer driver works for PLC5 printers. PLC5-only universal printer driver not available under win10 drivers, but it is under HP win7 printer drivers. Downloaded and installed it. Printer now prints under win10.

This item arrived quickly and appears sturdy. Good flexibility and appears to be made well. I plugged it into the back of the HP Laserjet printer and then plugged the USB into the back of the computer. I didn't do anything else and the computer screen immediately indicated that the computer had found a new USB device. I was skeptical that it would be as easy has that, so I created a test page and sent it to the printer and it printed immediately. No fuss, no muss - THIS THING WORKS! It saved us a lot of time, expense and aggravation. Great for an office setting. Purchase with confidence.

Works perfectly. Sometimes I get an extra blank page printed at the end, not sure if that's due to this cable or something my employer forcing my laptop to think I have a 2-sided printer (never used to happen on my old computer that had a parallel port).

I have an ancient HP 4000N LaserJet that still works. I attempted to purchase a USB to RJ45 adapter but it ended up being a USB network adapter which was looking for a router and not my printer. Belkin used to make one I had that died. I guess they are not a "thing" anymore. This trusty cable worked the first time. Yes it is "slower" than 10Mbs but I don't need speed for a 20 year old printer just for it to work again. Thank you, Tripp-Lite!

Easy to use and install. Wire looks sturdy but sometimes the connection lags and have to touch the wire from bottom but overall experience is good.

The cable works intermittently, is unreliable. Trying to print more than one page at a time apparently overloads the data capacity of the cable so it stops carrying data.

I have several older printers using Centronics parallel interfaces and these adapters make using the printers with computers that only have USB ports painless. I give 5 stars for Tech Support mainly because I've never had a problem with the software, the kind of support I appreciate from a vendor. FWIW, over the years (decades) I've found Tripp Lite products to be upper tier quality.

I bought this cable to connect to Datamax printer, but doesn't work at all. Just waste my money. However, it might be working on other types of printers, I didn't test it. But for Datamax, NOT.
