Made in China
This is not a military survival compass and it is not Swiss. According to the box it is made in China. The sighting window glass markings are not aligned with the compass itself. The hook for the lanyard only opens approximately 45 degrees before running into the cover and when fully closed protrudes below the base of the compass which keeps the compass from sitting flat until it breaks off completely (which it does quickly). The directions are in Chinesenglish. Do not even think about using this for serious navigation of survival activities.

NOT lightweight
This is a cool-looking compass; unfortunately it's not practical for outdoor use. It's bulky and heavy. Whether I'm backpacking, hiking, or hunting I cover a lot of ground so I go as light as possible. I weighed it--without case--at 6.1 ounces. My slightly larger (in area only; it's half as thick as this Swiss version) Silva Ranger (type 15) with a folding sighting mirror, weighs only 2.8 ounces. If you don't range that far afield it would be OK but I'm sending this one back.

Very Nice Compass
I have not had a chance to use the compass yet as I received two request for feedback before I even got the compass but now that I have it, I do like the features and quality of it. This is an additional compass for others I have that I use for search missions. I think this could become my primary compass.

Very nice compass.
This compass looks to be very well made and very functional for sure. It definitely appears to be of high military grade construction. I am happy with it.

Doesn't work
My front door faces true north. This says NW. Sometimes just a little bit NW and something really NW. It's not consistent in any area. According to this, there's no area in my house that's either true East or true West. I found the area that it says is North but when I start turning to the west, it didn't move. Did that in other locations where I would turn but it didn't. I went to the front bedroom which faces true north too and it says it faces NE. The front door and bedroom window are only about 4 feet apart. The $5 one I got at Walmart and lost worked a lot better.

Not bad
Cheap compass price wise. It points North. Some nice features but not the best made. You don't need a 200 dollar compass. This works fine. If you were doing survival type scenarios, military operations, or search/rescue I would recommend a heavier duty compass. If your using this for hunting, camping or a weekend on the trail its fine. Price compared to its features can't be beat.
