Battery was Not New
I ordered this battery kit since I had to charge my iPhone 4S three times a day. The battery I received was dated September, 2012, nearly 3 years old. I have no idea if it was used or not. Reading the product description again there is no claim as to whether the battery is new or used.Anyway, replacement took less then 10 minutes. And I am back to charging my phone only once a day.I also took the advice of other reviewers and purchased one of the "premium took kits" rather than use the very cheap looking tools that were included in this battery kit. I purchased this kit and was very happy with it:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N2GSEJI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

Great Inexpensive Solution
Aside for the battery issue, my phone works just fine, so why toss it? This battery worked great for me. I'd forgotten what it was like to go almost a whole day (I'm a heavy user) without recharging every few hours. Installation was simple but my old eyes (and shaky hands) required me to enlist someone who could see and manipulate the incredibly small screws. It was like 15 minutes or so for them. They'd probably be able to do it in less than five minutes after doing it once. My phone is like new again and if I should lose it I still have retained my ability to get a new free phone with a contract renewal.

The battery and kit were packaged properly. It came with picture directions but there are also some helpful videos online from other sources (* pay special attention to the very small antenna grounding clip). The battery manufacture date was 10/2014 so we will see how long it lasts. So far it is holding its charge well. I'll update my review if it falters early or holds its charge for a few years.

Good battery; Terrible Tools
This is a very doable battery replacement. But do not confuse "doable" with "easy". It is difficult and tedious. The process is actually very straight forward and is not hard to understand. Good directions are provided with photos, and help abounds on the web.The job is made difficult by two unfortunate details not immediately apparent: 1. The screws are extremely tiny and require intricate and precise tool manipulation; fingers will not work; and 2. The tools provided in the kit are very poor quality making the job close to impossible. If I were rating the tool kit alone, it would get a "one-star" rating. (The battery easily gets a "five-star" rating.)TOOL KIT CRITIQUEThere are five tools included in the kit, so it can also be used to replace a broken screen. I only used three of the five: the Pentalobe screwdriver, the Philips screwdriver, and the plastic prying tool. The prying tool worked fine, but the screwdrivers were terrible. The Pentalobe screwdriver has a star shaped tip much like a Torx screwdriver, except with only five points. A well made screwdriver will capture and hold the screw...not so important when removing the screw, but CRITICAL when installing! The screwdriver provided would barely fit the case screws for removal, and installation was a nightmare! Since the screwdriver would not properly engage, the screw would keep being pushed off axis while trying to screw it in. Each screw had to be backed out over ten time because they would cross thread. After much deliberate care trying to compensate for the poor tool, the case screws finally went back in.The screw inside the case that holds down the battery connection clip is a Philips. The screwdriver provided just twirled in the screw head, Fortunately, I had a quality screwdriver from a set I use repairing clocks, and it worked fine.Several others have mentioned the battery clip...there are eight possible ways to install it, and only ONE is right. Examine carefully BEFORE removing the screw. I thought I could examine clip position after removing the screw. WRONG! As soon as the screw was removed the clip sprang from its position, did a full gainer with a triple loop, and landed in the case nowhere close to its required orientation. Trust me, I tried all eight possibilities, some more than once, looked at pictures, looked up info on the web, and ultimately got it right. So making a dumb mistake on top of dealing with poor tools made this a rather unpleasant experience, although ultimately the battery works fine, and the phone has a new lease on life. Recommendations: 1. Get quality screwdrivers for this task; do not buy the battery with the cheap tools; and 2. as mentioned before, examine battery clip carefully before removal to eliminate guesswork and tedious trial and error installation.Do the research and get good tools...still not easy, but a LOT easier than trying to do with poor tools.

Good in a pinch.
Battery came partially charged, which was nice. The tools were effective, albeit somewhat cheap (I mean, how often are you planning on using them?). Instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. This was not nearly as dramatic of a process as some others have made it out to be. Unfortunately, it did not save my horrible iPhone, which refused to charge even after I replaced the battery, but I think that was a separate issue unrelated to this product.

Frustrated! First of all the instructions are just not good enough. It would have been a disaster had I not seen some installation videos in YouTube first. Second, after going through the painful process, risking damaging my phone, this piece of junk battery doesn't work well. Phone shuts down when charge is around 30%. It was too much trouble for a terrible performance.

Highly Recommended.
I was a little nervous about trying to install this myself as my 76 year old eyes and my steady hand and fingers aren't as good as they used to be. But all went well. Thank goodness that the screw drivers were magnetized. Took me about 15 minutes.

Good as new
Taking my time and replacing the battery in my phone probably took less than a half-hour. Kit and instructions were excellent (and I had watched a video before, so knew to watch for the little clip). Phone battery time is now as good as it was when new; just wish it was longer.

Worked better than the original
I was a little skeptical at first not knowing if the battery would be any good but it worked better than the original iPhone battery. The tools even came with it for those who may not have the tools to open up an iPhone. I do suggest that you know what you are doing or at least have researched the repair before attempting it on anything newer than the iPhone 4/4s

Easier to install with good instructions, but didn't work at all
Easier to install with good instructions, but didn't work at all. My phone wouldn't turn on and I had to put back in the old battery.
