Akribos XXIV "Bravura Mechanical Pocket Watch - Mechanical Hand-Wind Movement On a Skeleton Dial Comes with Cover and Chain - AK609

My 17yr old was wanting a pocket watch and I had NO idea where to find one. I am really ignorant of time pieces, so I was using the Amazon customer reviews as a guide. Buying something like this sight unseen makes me very nervous. My son loves steampunk and my first inclination was to get one the ones I'd seen while browsing the watches on Amazon. Unfortunately the steampunk ones that I saw - while beautiful looking - had many reviews that stated that the watches stopped working after two weeks or so (second hands falling off, not keeping accurate time, etc) or that when the watches arrived they were made from cheaper materials than expected. I finally happened upon this watch and reviews were solid. Sturdy construction, beautiful to look at at, and if the reviews were to be trusted, accurate time keeping. It was CRAZY marked down, so I took a chance. It arrived in a nice box and it was really beautiful to see/open. My son nearly lost his mind when he opened it (very unexpected gift). It's been 10 days since I gave it to him and it's working like a champ. I will update this review if it stops working, but so far, so good.

The watch looks very good, it is a little hard to see the time. It is to new for how it works.

the watch is beautiful, except in, so it works fine nowExept when I pulled the stem to set the time, it came out. Luckily, it pushed right back in, and works fine now.. Too much trouble to send it back.

The pocket watch feels and looks very cheap and made in China. The opening mechanism is cheap, the covers are flimsy and it felt like it was going to break at some point. Without the engraving it is the exact same watch as the ShoppeWatch PWMSK20 which is sold for much less. Wanted better quality. Returning the watch.

Considering that it is suppose to be worth $425.00 retail (on sale for $70.00) it is pretty cheap looking. I keeps good time however if you are willing to wind it twice a day. The hour hand is difficult to see.

This is an amazing pocket watch! The intricate details are amazing and the design is awesome! Love that it has a chain and the clip included! Overall recommend this pocket watch!

Very nice watch, bought as a gift for my fiance's best man. I knew he wanted one that was mechanical and I found this one for a reasonable price. When I got it I was impressed, it came in a very nice box and the watch itself was beautiful. It's so nice that when I showed my fiance he wants one of his own, and I might buy one for him in the future. I'm giving it four stars since it hasn't been in use yet and I'm unsure how it keeps time or holds up.

So I bought this for Christmas for my brother (bad luck to give watches/clocks on birthdays) and he was totally loved it! He couldn't believe how detailed it was and not to mention- SHINY! Works excellent and he still uses it till this day, plus the seeing the inner clockwork is pretty cool!
