Oil Shield® - Neoprene Heat Resistance Glove - Black - 14" Straight Cuff - One Pair

I really like these so far with the exception of the neoprene smell. The smell is pretty strong and I would hesitate to use them on food for fear of transferring the chemical flavor. On the other hand, the gloves appear to be heavy duty and well made. The gauntlet is smooth and covers most of my forearm. The hand has a rough, grippy surface. They have a soft cotton liner fused to the neoprene which makes them very easy to slip on and off and makes them very comfortable to wear. I have so far used them to clean a hot, 500 degree grill in 90 degree sun and I was quite comfortable the entire time. When I first got them I put them on and washed them thoroughly in dish soap and did not detect any leaks. The coating on these gloves is so thick, I'd be surprised if they ever leaked. If I could figure out how to get rid of the smell I'd change my rating to 5 stars.

The sizing, heat protection, and grip of the gloves were surprisingly better than each of the conparable gloves I have used in the past. The only complaint is that due to use in our restaurant, there are holes that developed at the base of the thumb within a month. Granted, we use them intensely each night in closing and cleaning the restaurant equipment.In working to replace them, there are no other gloves that are both oil/water resistant, and maintain consistent grip for the wearer.

I use these when I BBQ - smoking. They work great for reaching in the pit and pulling off slabs of meat. The only knock I will say against them is that they have a strong odor and I have to store them in the garage - so minus one star for the smell!

These gloves are great. They all you to pick up almost anything. Reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because there is an odor that was a little overbearing. But after a few washes with some soap and water they now are some of my favorite gloves that I own.

They work well for dealing with hot liquids. I use these for home brewing and have spilled hot wort (around 160F) on my hands while wearing them. I didn't feel it at all.My major complaint is the smell. These have a persistent chemical odor that has not dissipated despite repeated use and cleaning over the past year or so. That said, the smell has not affected our beer in any way.

I've fried turkeys a few years for Thanksgiving, and las luck would have it, this year I decided to level-up my safety gear. On a whim, I grabbed these and a fire extinguisher. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say they handled 250 degree oil no problems, and no oil seeped through the gloves. Needless to say, my flagstone didn't survive, but that's another story.

I should have guessed but the smell was horrible for weeks. The finally aired out enough to use for what I bought them for which was for my husband to use when he was smoking meat in a barrel smoker and had to reach down inside to get the cooked meat out without burning himself. Worked out well for that use in the end

Great gloves when you want to deep-fry that turkey.
