Don't attempt to conjure prices on your own, as you will certainly miss something. Get this book for your Handyman business.
I was going to give it a four star for being so simplistically formulaic in its presentation, then I thought heck no, easy to access standards and a simple layout are exactly what you want if you are trying to get an accurate quote to a customer. This book is awesome, and the only thing that would improve it would be in a simple same data base that I could query quicker than the book. I'm certain it's out there, and if not I might OCR it into a data base structure that I can use for my own purposes.

informative
i understand were they get their information for pricing but some of it seems very low to me. but it says to adjust to my area. still i don't see how some people work for these prices. all in all this book is very informative, especially for getting prices on something you've never bid or did before.

Good book for anyone in remodelling
Bought this for a friend who was losing money on almost every job. Great book. We made it PC friendly and usable on an I Phone. He's doing much better. There are a lot of hidden aspects of residential construction and remodelling that the book clarifies. This book tells you how it should be done and what it will cost.

Saves so much time!
The main problem as a General Contractor is what to charge for projects. Spending hours and hours getting estimates for bids on top of working consumes your life. This book has been a life saver! It has all the pricing needed to get the bid done in over half the time. I would refer this book to anyone who is looking for an affordable pricing guide and to really cut the cost of time used researching.

Well worth the cost.
I was looking for a broader range of projects. A breakdown with costs of various parts of the total would also be helpful.

Good book, could use a few tweaks.
Good book overall. It could use a better glossary of terms and acronyms. Better explanations in the notes section would also be helpful. What may seem like common knowledge to the writer(s) may not be so to new contractors.

Pricing Guide for Contractors and FHA Approved 203(k) Consultants
I would recommend this book as a construction pricing guide to Consultants who work with the FHA 203(k) Loan program. Pricing is easy to look-up and the categories include a local adjustment ratio. Contractors who follow the loan program would greatly benefit from knowing that HUD mentions RS Means in the 203(k) Guidelines as a reference for bid review. Amazon's delivery was dead on time and the book is competitively priced. A Good Find!

Bought the book for my business
I have a Remodeling & repair business so I refer to this book often. Because I live in a small Southern town often I have to make adjustments to the pricing . Quotes for items are high but I have to travel 20 + miles on occasion to get materials, so this book is a good "starting" point.I have 3 other year editions and only updated every 5 yrs to keep current .
