demonstrable improvement
When my a/c guy came by recently to give an estimate on some repairs he pointed out that my attic stair ladder was not insulated and that hot air was likely being sucked from the attic and contributing to increased dust in the house and reduced efficiency of the upstairs air conditioner. I’m always wary of the upsell but a quick search of the energy star website indicated that uninsulated attic stairs can be a big source of waste. My a/c guy suggested that I install an attic ladder tent. I ended up with this unit and had it installed today.Measured with an IR gun, the hottest attic temp I can read with the tent closed is now 89 degrees. Before it was 108. Further, with the attic ladder opening fully closed, the air path between the attic ladder opening and a nearby return vent was hovering at 85 degrees. Now that same path is hovering at 75 degrees (same as everywhere else upstairs). In both cases the upstairs air conditioner is set on 73.This seems to indicate that air is no longer being sucked from the attic and the air being pulled into the return is the risen hot air from the room which is pretty much 75 degrees all along the ceiling.I also spray foamed in the cracks where they roughed in the attic stair ladder.I don't know if this is saving me money, but it clearly is reducing the amount of attic air being sucked down and back into my ventilation and that's a great thing. I suspect there are some savings as well. One last thing. The day after I installed this, my wife mentioned that it felt cooler in be hallway. This happens to be the hallway where the attic ladder is hung. I agree, it feels cooler.

It fits!
It was easy to install but I didn't realize that it needed to be stapled on installation. This is my first year in this garage with a heat pump. The installer warned me that the heat pump would have trouble keeping the temperature above 60 on very cold days. The first really cold day came in mid December and that's when I knew I needed the extra insulation this product provides. Now I need to cover my old (circa 1940s) garage doors and I bet I can keep this garage warm all winter long. That way I can do my woodworking projects in comfort.

Well done
I installed this on my 1965 attic's pull-down after a home energy assessment showed it was leaking. They told me that this is the number one source of leaks they see in homes.Clean and well made, easy to open/close...I used a staple gun around the edge and silicone sealer around the edges as recommended, as I can tell that even the tiniest path could result in a leak. My results are exactly what are advertised. My upstairs now feels stable and the air is clean feeling, much cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The previous owners must have been sending a huge amount of heated/cooled air up into the attic. Not sure why people get so picky about this product...it a simple idea that works. Its pricier because its a good product and works.

Feels durable and built of quality. I have an opening Identical to the display picture. The installation is easy, was only a pain in the a** because I installed it in the summer time when it is unbearable in our attic. I used nails and spaced them apart a bit closer than instructed. I do not feel anywhere near the same amount of draft coming in. I cannot say if this has saved me money on my utility bill as it was the end of the summer. I can say that my room which is right below the attic felt cooler than before this. For the price and quality, I am satisfied! I would recommend this to a friend or relative.

Attic Tent Cover
The first time I climbed the ladder to unzip the cover I felt I was in a pocket of hot air. I thought "All this hot air would be in the attic if I did not have the tent. I kinda wish it was a bit thicker, but it works well as delivered. My installation would have looked better if I had set the staples right against the fold of the flap at the floor. As recommended, I ran caulk around all seams of the wood frame of the opening, and also where the tent meets the floor. I am very confident since I had this installed before the big freeze in January.

Go big!
Glad I paid more for this bigger size. It seemed to look the easiest to install and I was correct. I easily installed it (complete with all the chaulking to the frame prior to stapling and after as recommended) by myself.

I wish this fit flush to the floor of the attic somehow, if you are like me- all stuff stored in the attic is in bins - some heavy..and where I could slide it to the edge and get out of the attic, now it has to be lifted over the edge... and could bust the sides of this cover, if not careful. But the insulated cover idea is great - and works!

Good Product - Zipper Concerns Me But No Problems So Far
Seems well built. Easily installed. My primary issue is the zipper is difficult to operate and I have concerns with it lasting long term. Perhaps those concerns are unfounded but you really have to struggle an apply effort espcially to get the zipper around corners and I'm concerned it may fail there at some point in the future. We'll see. Overall though I installed it in minutes, it deadens sound, seals airflow and is relatively unobtrusive when getting in and out even with boxes and such.I'd buy again.
