4 Stars for the Count…
I enjoyed reading the classic in which all of Dracula stems from, in 1897 I am sure this made for sleepless nights. I never had the interest to see the movies, I guess because you can envision the story from basic knowledge. However, reading the classic is a great piece of literature. It’s not a novel that Dracula just going to jump in the window and suck a woman’s blood 🩸 lol..I enjoyed the layout of the book. The novel is based on diaries, written by each character, and these diaries are portrayed through their eyes of the experiences that they encounter.. Even in the year 2024, I found this historical book to be a good read for Halloween, it’s eeery 👻A group of six men and a woman track down Dracula in a strategic way. It’s interesting to read classic books. As we read novels of the current generation, the talent in literature is quite evident.

Great product, one issue
Minor issue, but the sticker they put on the back of the hard cover stains with residue. Kinda a huge oversight IMO. I'm not entirely a prick so I'm just gonna keep it, but come on.

So Good
Ok I don't usually do reviews, especially about books that have been around for over 100 years, but this book is Fantastic. I wish it was required reading for everyone in the world. I was mostly curious about what the truth of the origin of the Icon of Count Dracula was so I've been considering buying a copy for a while. I was ordering a book for work when I saw this beautiful cloth-bound version and thought, "Yes. Now is the time." I haven't finished it yet, but it has already given me nightmares. I was in bed, and looked over and saw two tiny red lights and almost screamed before I realized it was just the wicks of the candle I had been burning earlier that day. This book is truly terrifying- and I don't get scared all that easily. The last time a book had this effect on me was while I was reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when I was 12! Along with the novel being scary as all hell there is also the information about the book that Penguin Classics always does a great job at doing. It ties together this book, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Dorian Gray (two of my favorite books, I actually purchased a cloth bound Dorian Gray at the same time as I ordered this and I may need to add Jekyll and Hyde) and the introduction also discusses how Dracula is Evil for the sake of being Evil, which I think helped put me in the proper mindset to read this book and truly understand what was going on. tl;dr while it is a story about a pop-culture icon who we all know and some love but most are afraid of, it is worth a read. It has ruined my life and I will never be the same. I literally stopped someone from kissing my neck because I am so completely frightened while reading this book. Now, when people ask me about my fears instead of saying "being alone" I can say DRACULA

Okay, it's a "classic"
The story of Dracula had potential, but the writing style was incredibly poor. The narrative felt disjointed and the dialogue unnatural, making it difficult to enjoy. I was disappointed by the cumbersome prose and found it hard to understand how this is considered a classic.
