Saddle up(grade)
Careful sanding and fitting yielded a very nice bone saddle. Inotation was near perfect, sounds great on my Yamaha LL-TA and Looks so much better than the plastic tone sucker that was there. Worth the effort to fit for certain.

As easy to install properly as any other Acoustic Saddle.
Great Quality Product with accurate description. Some final fitment required as should be expected. Final fitment will always ( OK ALMOST ALWAYS) be required for a saddle. The product offered here is accurately sized for the described fitment and only minor final fitment to the bridge and for desired action height is necessary. Definitely the best quality Bone I have seen available on amazon so far. (First portion pasted from my other review from same supplier this one is for a different guitar and product but the same applies) This purchased for my Yamaha FG700s fits perfect, as before final fitment required. In this case +/- .5mm in length and height adjustment as desired. Was able to get to what I consider a perfect Action with great intonation. As with all things pertaining to guitar setup your results will vary based on skill level and time invested. Will not hesitate to buy again for any other guitars I work on as having a mostly shaped saddle significantly shortens the process and these are of great quality.

Get this saddle. You will be very pleased.
So I bought 2 of these for my Yamaha FG840, and my Yamaha FG820-12. These are my thoughts. What was Yamaha thinking not shipping these guitars with bone saddles? Yes, with the plastic saddles, the guitar does sound well, but it left to much to be desired. The sound was bright, sounded thin and tinny, but it had a nice full sound, but strumming harder didn't give you any more volume. All I would hear Is the buzz from the strings. The guitar was great when I bought it but don't let the downside of the plastic saddle discourage you from buying the guitar. When the bone saddles arrived, they are oversized, which is to be expected, and the seller gives detailed instructions on how to sand down the saddle to make it fit in your particular guitar. It took about 10 to 15 minutes of sanding but I ended up getting the action of both guitars back to where they were when I bought the guitars. So the action is a little higher, but it's comfortable to play. After I got it done, I also put a new set of ebony bridge pins on my 6 string, but I'll review that later. The change in the sound on both guitars Is AMAZING!!!!! I swear after changing out the saddle that both guitars sound richer and fuller. There is more sustain, more bass response and a bell like chime and high end shimmer on the 12 string that I never heard when the plastic saddle was on it. The volume is much louder, even with a lighter attack on the strings.I am 100% satisfied with these saddles. Also the intonation is now spot on.My recommendation, buy this saddle, you will not regret it.

Praise for MacNichol Bone saddles
I ordered a bone saddle for my Yamaha fs800 from MacNichol.com who specializes in cutting bone saddles for acoustic guitars. I was worried that it would fit without lots of sanding and adjustments. The saddle that came on my guitar was very loose from the factory, And I wanted to improve the sound as well.. The bone saddle arrived in three days as promised. I installed it and it fit perfectly. No issues at all, it is snug and tight, It improved the sound of an already good sounding guitar, I am so pleased I ordered it. And by the way it is also compensated, no retuning needed as you capo up and down the neck. I am a retired professional musician 82 years old. Still doing solo gigs occasionally. I would like to put a plug in for the Yamaha guitar company for building an fs800 acoustic for $199.00. Great sound, good playing, excellent volume, lot’s of base. Check it out!!Wayne W. Smith Sr

excellent saddles
Just got 2 of these saddles for my Yamaha LJ6 and LL6. There were no light or dark spots visible with a candle - that's good. Width was perfect, length required 10 seconds of sanding, height required more sanding - no problem as it allows action to be fine-tuned. My guitars have built in pickups under the saddle so getting a flat bottom on the saddle is important for even volume. To get a proper fit I followed the video and also, when sanding the bottom I put a level on edge on the sandpaper and slid the saddle along the edge of the level to get a 90 degree angle - worked great. With the previous Urea/plastic saddle the guitar sounded pretty good except for the B string - it sounded harsh and unmusical from the third to the 6th fret. The bone saddle cured that problem along with giving the guitar a Richer more even sound. To my ears the volume and sustain didn't change but the overall tone is improved in a way I really like. I am delighted with the outcome. Update - after playing the guitar for some time I do hear more sustain than before - volume is still about the same.

Fit Yamaha A3M
Width was perfect. Height needed sanding. It has more room to spare if I want to sand more.I think the sound/tone has improved a little.

Perfect fit for my Yamaha FS800.
This saddle fits the slot of the Yamaha FS800 PERFECTLY! The intonation is now PERFECT as there is no more forward saddle lean that the cheap plastic too thin original Yamaha saddle exhibits. The tone is improved. You can tell the bone is pretty dense and high quality. The compensation carving is extremely high quality, I had no idea one can shape a bone material so precisely.
