the greatest story ever told
I am of bulgarian origin and have nothing in common with Hinduism and am able to keep neutrality but after reading Mahabharata by Bibek Debroy I would like to propose to the world as a whole to please adopt it as a top religious manual for all men to follow. The only critical aspect of these books is that they are not put in a bindings worthy of their content. This books possessed the power to put mankind on the path of religion and ultimately deliver the human souls back to its nature, which in my humble understanding is devotion to our creator.Strongly recommend this books.Thank you

A very nice set for presentation
I love mythology and was introduced to The Mahabharata from videos by Billy Carson. I see some people have an issue with how complete of a version this is or isn’t. For someone new like me I think it’s fine. I’ll search out any additional information after I finish this set, and it’s a very nice set. You can’t go wrong if you want something that will look nice on your bookshelf.

Many very important stories are not included in the unabridged critical edition
I always wanted to read the Mahabharata. Since this is labeled the “unabridged critical edition” I thought this would be the most complete and most scholarly edition. According to the author, who you can see on YouTube, the critical edition, was derived by compiling all of the many different editions and selecting the slokas which are common to all. It took me 4 months to read the entire set. The biggest problem is that many stories are missing. Specifically, it does not state in the text that Ghandhari voluntarily blindfolded herself in deference to her blind husband. The fact that Ghandhari is blindfolded is only mentioned as a footnote in one of the final volumes. The stories of when Ghandhari curses Krishna, the death of Krishna, and the destruction of the Yadavas are not included. Also the story of when Arjuna fails to protect the wives of Krishna from the dacoits is not included. These are very important to the story. Thus one wonders what other stories might be omitted. I do not recommend this unabridged critical edition.
