Great Mystery adventure game
As someone who enjoys mysteries and fairy tales, this game delivered a truly immersive detective experience. It was akin to reading a short detective tale, sort of a Sherlock Holmes novella with a slight fantasy twist.I've played these types of mystery games before and found this one to be refreshingly different. The materials were well-presented. It's best suited for solo players or pairs who don't mind reading aloud. Unlike typical “Escape Room” games loaded with puzzles, this is a straightforward murder mystery that can be completed in roughly an hour and a half.Highly recommended for those looking to briefly immerse themselves in a mix of historical and magical worlds.

So fun
Morbid but fun. This comes in a lay flat pack so not in a board box. It's pretty easy to figure out how to play and it's a great rainy day activity.I enjoy these types of games so it only took me about two days to figure it out but if you aren't use to figuring puzzles out by hand this could take awhile.A great gift idea just know that it is Grimms and they don't have happily ever afters in any story.

Pretty but Predictable
The Grimm Mysteries murder game is nice to look at but it is very predictable. The game comes in a plastic sleeve and contains suspect cards, a map, sealed envelope, notes, a case book, and some news articles. All of the materials look really nice and the printing is sharp. The card images look very AI generated and you will easily be able to see the actors used to make them. Additionally, the card's looks don't necessarily match up with the descriptions provided in the notebook which is a bit disappointing. The biggest disappointment is the story as it is very predictable without any twist or turns to make you doubt who could be behind the crime. Depending on your reading speed, you will be done with it easily in a couple of hours tops and you will never really doubt who the killer is. In summary, while the game looks nice, the story is lacking for a murder mystery.

Not a Game
This isn't a game - it's a "journal" story with some cards with character faces on them. There is no gathering of facts and solving the murder - it's all laid out for you. I would call this an immersive reading experience, it wasn't for me.

A good little mystery for 1-2 players. 3.5 stars
Whenever my wife and I attend a murder mystery dinner theater, I'm always the one trying to win by figuring out the mystery.-- The Read This First page says, "PS: First, I suggest reading the story that Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm used in their book, Children's and Household Tales, that they published in 1812. It is not the Disney version we watched when we were children."I read the title of each Grimm Post article and the header of each item in the journal. No such story exists in this package! Thus this starts off in a very confusing manner. If this is a public domain story, it really would have helped to include it in here or at least called out which of those stories we should focus on as there are literally 80+ stories under this book title.> What do I do first after this confusing start?Start with the articles? Start with the Journal? This same letter says, "Please examine these documents in any order...". I guess it doesn't matter what order, so be prepared to take notes.+ This is a similar setup to Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective series where you are reading documents (a journal, paper articles and some notes). The nice thing about this game is the reading is much, much less than that other game.> I'm torn between this NOT being in a box but in a thin plastic resealable sleeve.Versus it doesn't need to be in a box...though a box will help with fitting this on one's kallax shelf with other game; whereas the envelope has it simply disappear and be hidden when stored with your other games.+ A good dark/adult mystery with enjoyable puzzles.+ The map, journal, articles notes/recipes, and portrait art are well made.+ The writing is easily 9th/10th grade reading level and written well.-- I think you have to wait 2-3 years before you play this again so you forget most of what is going on.Basically I don't see this having a replayability value.+ No items to destroy, so you could pay-it-forward once the mystery session is complete.OVERALL:A nice solo game or date night or hang-out night with one other; especially if you/partner want to play a good detective + narrative/reading game.

Made me feel like Columbo
Several suspects with motives. Clues to analyze. A nice illustrated story. Nice artwork throughout. I read half the story one evening, then finished it the next morning. Then, after looking over all the supplemental information, I was glad to see I correctly solved the mystery. One minor flaw (that does not impact the mystery challenge: 1 character card was not present (and I really wanted to see what she looked like, especially since Grimm was attracted to her, and 1 character card seems irrelevant. ) Anyway, I found it to be an enjoyable adventure. I've re-sealed the solution and now my wife will have a crack at it.
