Great immersive mystery
I really enjoyed this mystery. It's very immersive from the moment you open the pack. You find a journal, newspaper articles, art (character cards), a letter from Mr. Grimm that introduces you to the mystery. It is on the darker side (think more true crime than cozy), but I really enjoyed it. The writing is fantastic, and the graphics are incredible. The story unfolds as you comb through everything. I would most definitely recommend this to any book/mystery lover. I just purchased their other one and look forward to getting it this weekend.

Not a game, more a story
This is not much of a mystery. More a story, the mystery was spoon fed to the reader. The final ah-ha who dun it was weak. The game try to build in some red herrings to make every suspect viable, but ultimately, who actually did it was just whomever the game picked vs a real elimination and deduction exercise. Also the theme is too mature for a story set in fairytale.

No real STEPS - just lots of information
This is a lot different from what I expected. I thought this would take me step by step - do this first, then this, etc. Or at least guide you a bit. This is more like you're a detective and you get all this information and clues and you have to put it all together. It's kind of overwhelming. I still like the idea, I just don't like when things aren't in some kind of order. (I'm a type A person). It's exciting but takes quite a bit of time. If it had steps, you might be able to do this a little at a time. This almost makes you have to do it all at once so you don't forget anything. I suggest keeping notes on a pad or computer as you go.For what it is, I guess the price is about right. Maybe a little high. Have fun!

Great solo or in a group. Buuut.
I have played dozens of mysteries in the past and my expectations are high. This mystery packet has notes and clues inside as well as interviews and other evidence. One thing i have noticed with some other mysteries is their lack of good editing. Not so here. I didn't notice any writing/spelling errors or any continuity flubs. A great way to spend an afternoon or evening. There is one thing that really bothered me though. All of the information and facts are dumped on you right from the beginning. There are no rounds or breaks in the info, you get all of it right from the start and you either sink or swim. I think that limits this game to adults or very mature young people.

Great mystery, good production values, poor packaging
About the only knock I can offer is that this comes packaged in a clear plastic envelope, like something that would be hanging on store display. That means it doesn't store easily, the contents can be damaged more easily, and it brings down the overall presentation. That out of the way, everything else is great. The production values on the components are excellent. The writing is quite good, the clues and puzzles are a joy to unpeel, and it will give you a good challenge without ever feeling impossible. The story that unfolds is really good, and it's perfect to play solo OR with another person.Overall, I enjoyed this a lot and recommend it to anyone who likes mystery games, deduction games, and detective games with a good narrative.
