Keeps coffee hot
Being double lined the coffee stays hot longer, ideal for 1 person as makes 2 big mugs fullEasy to clean, looks beautiful and no chance of smashing it (always used to happen with glass ones with me)No ground coffee escapes into the mug when pouring

La Cafetiere Thermique
I have 3 coffee makers each of a different design. I was attracted to the La Cafetiere Thermique because it combines the best features of a plunger-type coffee maker and a Thermos flask. Being made wholly of metal there are no glass components to break. Furthermore, the container vessel itself and its cap are double-skinned like a Thermos flask, which reduces heat loss thereby keeping the coffee hotter for longer. The specification states that the double-skin design retains heat 3X longer than conventional coffee makers. I have not put this claim to the test but I believe it to be true. The coffee maker is made wholly of metal, is sturdy, well made and not as heavy as it looks. It has a highly polished outer surface and brushed matt finish on the inside. The plunger and the diaphragm appear to be made of stainless steel. The mesh of the diaphragm is very fine, much finer than the diaphragm in my glass cafetiere. The metal diaphragm has proven to be a very effective barrier against coffee dregs.Making coffee follows the same procedure as for a conventional plunger-type cafetiere: add spoonfuls of coffee to the empty vessel, add hot water to within 1" of the spout and replace the cap with the plunger up, leave for 4 - 5 minutes before slowly depressing the plunger. Pour out the coffee, as required. This coffee maker is an '8 cupper' but as I prefer weaker coffee and larger cups I get between 3 - 4 cups from one filling. The La Cafetiere Thermique is very attractive and would grace any table. I do not know if the outer surface would tarnish with time but I imagine it would be easy to keep it clean and bright. Highly recommended.

Excellent
This is really good. Keeps coffee hot, cleans well. Doesn't fall over easily when empty (and smash like the glass ones!).The only criticism is that the lid is designed to fit well inside the cafetiere for insulation. There is wedge cut which you line up with the spout to pour. But there is nothing on the lid (e.g. a mark, arrow, dot) to show where this. You need to look into the pout to check whether its open. This isn't a problem when fully shut, as if you pour nothing comes out and you remember you have to rotate it whilst looking in the spout. But if the opening is partly lined up when you pour it can be slow or make a mess - the coffee bubbles and splatters if you tip it too much to get a flow. Not a reason not to buy but if a supplier/manufacturer is reading and opportunity to make it even better - some visual clue as to the correct rotation for pouring or closing.

yes - This is The One!
As most reviewers here have said; this is The One!I too was fed up breaing the fragile cafetière glass. I bought a metal cafetière from a supermarket, it looked good and it kept the coffee warm but the spout was tiny - it was literally impossible to pour coffee without spilling it...and not just small drops either, it would sometimes literally run down the side. This cafetière is not like that. I chose it from the others for sale here becuase it appeared on the picture to have a big spout - and it does. This is means it is virtually impossible to be able to spill a drop whilst pouring.I have also noticed that sometimes, when its full of hot coffee, it makes a little sound... A sort of very quiet, bubbly puttering. It seems to be something to do with the lid.... It is actually very comforting - I enjoy it and only adds to the delight I have in finally finding a cafetière that ticks all the boxes :It doesn't break like glassIt keep coffee really warm for long enoughIt is able to pour without spilling a drop

Pleasantly surprised
The copper coloured version looked much better in reality than the picture on the site. All good

Nice to look initially.
It doesn't pour very well, it doesn't retain heat for more than 45 minutes and the copper coating starts to flake within the first few uses.Other than that, it's a pretty decent cafetiere which I actually enjoy making a brew in.Other reviews seem to have the opinion that the mesh and its surround can't be removed for cleaning, but I had no problem unscrewing the whole assemby.(Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey)

Just very good!
Have been giving this heavy use for a few weeks now.Really good looking coffee pot; glad I splashed out and bought this one rather than the cheaper stainless steel insulated one I was also considering. Nicely made - unlike some cheap cafetieres which can feel flimsy or wobbly when you push the plunger down.Keeps the coffee nice and hot (particularly if you warm the pot with a splash of water first), pours well and keeps the coffee grounds out of your cup (again, unlike some of the cheaper cafetieres I have used in the past...). What more can you ask of a coffee pot? (Except maybe for it to bring you a biscuit..!)Overall, really glad I bought this.

Beautiful, petite coffee press
Beautiful design and copper color. I love this French press. Beware, it makes only one regular-sized mug of coffee.
