This movie is a complete masterpiece
How on earth can anybody watch this amazing, thoughtful, subtle, moving, sexy, challenging, disturbing movie and not love it for evermore? Reading some of the other amazon reviews makes me wonder whether the reviewers saw the same movie, or if perhaps they were too tired to appreciate it.Director Doug Liman and his two astonishing stars (plus a fantastic supporting task including the laconic but always watchable Vince Vaughn and the extraordinarily beautiful Michelle Monaghan in a great cameo as Gwen the laptop pathologist) have created one of the finest movies I have ever seen. The point about 'Mr and Mrs Smith' is that it really makes you think. Yes, when maybe you first see it you imagine you are just seeing another good action movie with some dollops of sex appeal thrown in. But PLEASE, remember that the people who worked on this movie spent hundreds of man (and woman)-years making it for you, so watch it again. I GUARANTEE you will start to see new, very brilliant and highly entertaining stuff in it. Like, to take just one example, the way the Smiths put their wedding rings back on when they return to the house, as if their secret lives were a kind of infidelity, which of course they are. Like the way what is REALLY happening in the film is that the violence and bad guys etc are just a wonderful and dramatic metaphor for the private, closedness that so many couples (or maybe all of us?) bring to marriages and relationships and which are utterly bound to kill the relationship stone dead. This is a movie about a couple who fall in love with each other's bodies and then, accidentally, really get to know each other and at last fall in love for real. The fact that to do this they have, in effect, to destroy their house, their careers and - almost - each other is really by the by.The movie is also astonishingly sexy. This is where you will find real sexiness; in this movie, not in nonsensicial porn movies with no plots and bored, unjoyous actors and actresses. 'Mr and Mr Smith' is incredibly sexy because the sexiness is brainy sexiness: the kind that is the sexiest of all. Quite apart from the fact that the stars are filmed really well by this highly talented director (note, for example, the sheer beauty of the way Jane is lit when we first meet her in action in Bogota) the situations themselves have a fantastic inherent sexiness. For instance, the scene where Jane kills the arms dealer who thinks she is just a dominatrix is very sexy because of how it dramatises the strange deadliness of female sexuality: didn't someone (Rudyard Kipling, I think) say that the female is deadlier than the male? This scene would have stunned Kipling but it proves his point. And then Jane goes home in her fishnet stockings to a nice bourgeois all-American drinks party at the Colemans: notice the way this scene suggests the implicit wilful sexual energy and potency that underpins superficially bourgeois family life.I could go on, but I don't want to give away anything crucial about the plot. All I will say is that this movie really, really repays repeated viewings. I have seen it maybe a dozen times and stll find new things I love about it.Do yourself a favour: watch 'Mr and Mrs Smith.' And if you have watched it once, watch it again, and again.Enjoy!

Slick Over-the-Top Ultra Violent Slapstick Romcom (Kind of)
Yes, the plot is slightly ridiculous/unbelievable for the most part, it's incredibly over the top and largely little more than a very good looking but far-fetched violent comedy with a slap of romance and a fairly basic story line, but I actually really enjoyed this film. It looks good, punches hard and doesn't try too hard to be anything more than the disposable stylised domestic caper that it is.Brad Pitt (swoon) and the ever-unpopular Angelina Jolie (booo) are a married couple who are experiencing something of a lull in their marriage; everything has become a little samey and routine in their seemingly rather mundane home life, but behind the scenes, and unbeknown to each other, they are each actually secret agents working for different agencies as international hit-men/hit-women (hit-people?)! All of this is pulled off pretty well - Brangelina do a great job of portraying a marriage on the rocks and many people will recognise the very common little annoyances and sly comments, all served up with a healthy dose of well timed observational comedy and palpable tension between two of Hollywood's most shiny stars. This would be all well and good but as luck should have it they are then each assigned a new target to wipe out which turns out to be each other. Typical! We've all been there. Forcing each to scrutinise the worth of their love/marriage more than ever before, this is the basic plot with some international conspiracy/agency fluff around it to meat things out a little as we then go on a rollercoaster of will-they-won't-they cat and mouse as the unlikely situation injects some serious juice into their marriage. This results in some genuinely funny and hyper-violent domestic violence as we watch Mr. & Mrs. Smith beat seven shades of ultra glossed sunshine out of each other, with the ever increasing tension inadvertently leading them to a reconciliation (and a well and truly wrecked homestead) and teaming up for an all-out seriously over the top high body count finale. No need to bring your gun - they have hundreds. And they use them all.Leave your brain at the door, suspend your belief along with your very probable dislike of Ms. Jolie (why does everyone hate that woman so much!?) and enjoy the film for what it is and it will be a fun, well paced couple of hours of good looking gun-toting nonsense.

A lot of Fun!
Now, i wouldn't go as far as saying this is the greatest film of the year, nor would i say it is one of my favourite films, but i found it was a good, fun film which is worth adding to my collection.Im not going to repeat the plot, as you can find that info in other reviews, i just wish to share my thoughts:The stars of the film speak for themselves, the on screen chemistry adds to the humour factor. The story isn't going to win any awards, but again it is just a honest fun film. I liked the idea of the film and it did bring a smile to my face, there are a few moments in the film that made me laugh out loud. There's a lot of gadgetry, and a fair share of action; its not exactly the most intense action scenes of all times, but it does interlink with the comedy of the film. The gagedtry can be summed up in one word = "cool!", After watching the film you can only dream about having a house like Mr and Mrs Smith!!!It's not a "MUST BUY" film, and it certainly wont be remembered as an award winning masterpiece, but it is still a good film, worthy of a 4 star rating. It'll bring a smile to your face!

If I have to be completely honest I did not like this film at first
Well, If I have to be completely honest I did not like this film at first. But, after watching it a few times it has grown on me. Mr and Mrs Smith having a barney with semi-automatic weapons, while punching holes in their house.Lets hope that their the only couple that arguing like this.A must watch. A wonder what this would be like as a cartoon.
