Works perfectly
This was just what I needed to get an SSD into an old dell D430 without paying way more than I should have to for a 1.8" ziff drive. I slapped a cheap 120 GB m.2 sata "drive" in it and installed windows Xp without a hitch.

worked great on 5, 5.5, and 6 gen but not 7 gen
I bought this to upgrade a friends busted 7th gen thinking it would work base upon online reading. I couldn't figure why this would not work with the original logic board (which I did later find was the cause of the original problem) or the replacement board till someone at headfi.com pointed out that the 7 gen board was incompatible with this and the MSATA drive I had and that a 5.5 gen would be the best one to try for. Now that I have replaced with a 5.5 board the iPod is working wonderfully.

It fit, OS saw it, but, does not install on the mSATA
It is a bit small, and not completely a replacement of the mechanical HD. The Dell Latitude XT BIOS saw the drive, the Windows XP/7/8.1 saw the drive, partition it. However, cannot install it -- strange. Put back the mechanical 40GB HD, the installation move along
