Great Lens
Well to start off I am a professional photographer and I use this len's a lot since I receiving it. I bought it to use on a dx camera because for wedding's and event's I like the angle of a true 28mm so the 20mm on a dx camera come's close at about 30mm. I use this for all of my wide angle shot's I also prefer prime lens because I feel when I use a prime len's instead of a zoom I am more carefull in my framing and I feel less lazy. I also like the perspective that a wide angle give's when you get close and your foreground subject's are large and the background get's smaller so I wouldnt want to be able to zoom. I haven't found any problem's with this len's other than I wish it was a bit faster 2.8 get's the job done most of the time but I wish it was 1.8 or 1.4 it would make this lens so much more valuable to me but other than that this is a fantactic len's. If you are looking for a great wide len's that's faster than your kit zoom you should definitly get this len's and if your coming from having the 18-55 len's you ussually get it is only 3mm less wide which is nothing and it is alot better than f3.5. If you have a wide fast 2.8 zoom then I would say pass this up because you already have it in your zoom range and it s no faster than your len's that is why I wish it was a bit faster. the image quality with this len's is great I havent had any problem's with flaring. Yes there is some vinetting but it's a wide angle and it is not very much so where it bother's me It is built strong feels like a tank a little heavy but not so much so that I mind when I have it hanging on my neck for hours much lighter and more descret than a large fast zoom.

Great lens Great buy for the money
This lens does just what I wanted, and I am very happy with it. I didn't expect it to complete with the eight hundred dollar version, but it does give a wide angle lens for a lot less money to play with. I can photoshop out any problems the lens might have.

OK lens, but used and not new
The lens itself is an OK lens. I knew that when I bought it. I bought it new and one of Amazons partners supplied the lens and shipped it to me. However, upon opening the package it was obvious that I was sent a used lens. It was not wrapped in plastic, half the packaging material was missing as was the warranty card. Amazon offered me the choice of a substantial discount on the lens or I could return it. I kept the lens and it has worked well.I probably won't purchase another lens from Amazon that doesn't come from Amazon directly.

Arrived earlier than expected, lens is used but seems in near perfect condition.
Small but mighty, lens is clear. AF works fast & quiet. No issues, it arrived with lens hood, caps as listed. Very happy with this purchase and the price.

great ergonomics, small size
It was either a used 20 f/2.8 D or the newer 20 1.8 G. Decided to go for the f/2.8 D because I don't need f/1.8 and it's much more economical when buying used. Well built, great ergonomics, small size. The old school screw drive AF leaves a bit to be desired; it's unrefined and kind of noisy, but quick and accurate. There's no manual focus override on this lens, so you have to steer clear of the MF ring when auto focusing and flip the switch on the body to change to MF. It's an older lens - all of these issues are gone on the newer f/1.8 version so I really can't complain. I'm using this lens in a reportage style, not for landscapes, and image quality is more than sufficient. Corners are soft wide open and clean up quickly. By f/5.6-f/8 the lens is sharp across the frame with the exception of the *extreme* corners, which never fully clean up. This shortcoming is irrelevant to my style of shooting, however your needs may vary. Despite its age this lens still holds up. I wouldn't pay MSRP for it, but it's widely available used and should be considered by those looking for a sharp, small ultra-wide.

and I wanted to be able to do two things better, take pictures of them inside my small house ...
I am absolutely loving this lens! I purchased it for my Nikon D7200. I mainly take pictures of my kids, and I wanted to be able to do two things better, take pictures of them inside my small house and get more of the scene when we're out and about without having to back too far away. (You never know when you're going to need to grab hold of the toddler.)This lens is living on my camera right now! I took it to the beach with my family, and it was perfect for getting the kids and the scenery. I can take group photos at home and barely even have to climb on the furniture anymore!I really just love this lens. Money well spent.

Very satisfied
Works great on my F4 SLR. I take advantage of the auto focus and yet can control the aperture on the lens when the body of the older generation of cameras cannot. What I am amazed with the most with is that this lens has minimal distortion for a wide angle lens. Cheep knock-off brands lack good error corrective elements that are essential for a good image especially at the wider aperture settings. I like the build quality as well of the older lenses. The specs on the G series may be better, but I guess the trade off is the ability to control the aperture on the lens and solid build construction.

Not too long, not too wide for indoor on DX
Note: I'm using this on D7K, which has a built in focusing motor; manual focus only on bodies without.35mm is probably the most popular all around lens, but from my experience the 52mm equivalent on DX makes it a tad too long for indoor. On Full frame it's probably just right.I was hesitant to go this wide and was contemplating the Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF (35mm equivalent), but it didn't quite get the same positive reviews as the 20mm. While the 35mm f/1.8G AF-S has received outstanding reviews, i just didn't want to settle on that focal length, so i took the plunge with the 20.Great decision! Most would probably use this lens for landscape, but i find it just right for indoor candids of the family. I never worry about available shooting space and never find it too wide.Sure it's not a 1.8, but 2.8 is plenty fast for a camera like the D7k where high iso is a non-issue.
