Q: Would this razor be a good choice for beginners?

All straight razors are going to take time to learn how to use properly but having our razor exposed 2 mm and well balanced will help the beginner learn with less cuts

Q: Is this a safety straight edge razor?

The blade is 2mm exposed so it's technically not deemed a safety razor. We like to think of it as one of the safest straight razors you can use though since you can very clearly see what you're doing. The razor gives you the best possible control and the ability to see what you're cutting. Definitely take the time to learn before using though.
