These Beeswax Wraps are so much healthier than plastic - for us & for our world. Stiff when cold.
I was delighted to be able to order these highly ecological wraps. Since the upsetting news was published about micro particles and their likely bad effect when lodged in our bodies, as well as their certain disastrous effect on our seas and waterways, I have been wondering how to package cheese, nuts, chocolate etc for picnics. I wondered about using aluminium foil, but that is difficult to clean and re-use due to its tendency to crumple. And surely aluminium is a costly resource? These wraps use organic cotton coated with a mix of beeswax, pine resin and jojoba oil. Good enough to eat! They can be wiped clean and even washed at a low temperature. They can also be refreshed with a new coating of beeswax.I received one continuous length of the wrap, leaving it up to me to choose and cut however many and what size I want. I have decided on 3 generous pieces. Any smaller and imo I would risk the contents spilling out. For wrapping bread loaves, maybe 2 larger sheets would be better. The fabric feels stiff. I fear folding it will lead to creasing. Perhaps it would be better to warm it before use, but that will not be easy in my cold house at mid-Winter. I will update when I have more to report. The wrap comes tightly rolled inside a waxy piece of paper, and a slim cardboard box. I think it would pass through most letterboxes. The current price of £12.99 works out at £4.33 for each of my 2 wraps. However, if you order before 31st December 2024 you earn a super-generous 50% off, bringing the overall price down to a much more modest £6.50.Clicking through to the seller Erkoon's site, I discovered a charming and unusual world of naturally sourced animal toys, mostly for rabbits, but also for guinea pigs.

Eco-friendly beeswax wraps
Beeswax wraps can feel a little odd when you first start to use them, as they are a bit stiff and don't feel as though you'll be able to wrap food with them. Once warmed a little, they will soften and can easily be used to wrap anything; sandwiches, cheese, as covers for bowls etc. I use them as sandwich wraps, and they do a great job, keeping food really fresh. These can be cleaned in cold water and reused for a long time, and you can refresh them with a new coating of beeswax if required, so they are a great eco-friendly alternative to things like cling film. You get a roll that can be cut to whatever size suits your needs, and there's enough here to make a few wraps for different uses. Priced at a little over £12, which is very reasonable given the size and the reusability of this roll. I love the bright and cheerful colour design of this too!

Loving these pretty, eco-friendly wraps
I have been meaning to try beeswax wraps for some time, but have been rather put off by their cost. I therefore leapt at the opportunity to try them tor free through the Amazon Vine programme - and I'm so glad I did.I avoid plastic whenever possible, and gave up using cling film many years ago, but there's no denying that it was useful for quick, easy and cheap wrapping of all sorts of foodstuffs. However, as the listing says, single-use plastic products can linger in our environment for 2,000 years or more and won't biodegrade - a truly shocking statistic! What's more, these beeswax wraps are said to last about 6 months when used several times a week; as I live on my own, I'm sure they will last me a good bit longer than that. Although the roll looks quite small, it's actually a large piece which can be cut into smaller pieces, and it can be washed and reused multiple times. Using the heat from your hands, you can mould a piece of the wrap around any container, even really odd- shaped ones - something I haven't been able to do for years since I gave up using clingfilm. The wraps are made of organic cotton coated with a mix of beeswax, pine resin and jojoba oil. One reviewer points out that on the box it says that they're 100% paper and cellulose, but I think this is just a translation problem, and that it's referring to the packaging, not the wraps. I can't detect any smell to them, which is good for wrapping food, although I was rather hoping for a slight whiff of beeswax as I love the smell of beeswax candles! And finally, I love the design - a pretty and highly appropriate pattern of bees, hives and flowers, against a green background which perfectly matches my newly-painted green kitchen! The current price of these beeswax wraps is £12.99, but there's a 40% off voucher available, bringing the price down to £7.79, so I may well order some more as presents for friends who feel the same way as I do about doing everything we can to protect the environment.

Nice looking beeswax wrap
Love the pattern on this, looks great. It's otherwise very much like other beeswax wrap I've had before. Bit weird to use at first but works a treat for the packed lunches! It's a good size, and you can cut it down if you want something more specific. You need to rinse it in cold water too clean it, so try not to get it too mucky. Bit if you do need to you can rinse in warm water and ultimately reapply some beeswax. A good alternative to cling film!
