Works.
Labeled cables for a small studio and other small projects so far. The free version of the software has Excel integration and works perfectly for cable label applications. The printer itself has always connected and functioned as desired.

Poor Print Quality and 1st Battery Status LED Twice As Bright As The Others
I've been using a Brady BMP21 for three years and been pretty happy -- but wanted to move to something with better editing/layout control, and thought the M511 would be a good upgrade. So after some research I "splurged" for this unit. But, I can't shake the feeling that the print quality should be better for a label printer that costs almost $500. The text seems to have more "jaggies" than should be normal for a 300dpi printer, and every time it prints there are at least two or three spots where it seems like the ink didn't stick. See attached images (600dpi scan) where red circles annotate the missing ink spots. (This was with an authentic Brady M4C-750-595-WT-BK cartridge also bought from Amazon.)Also, in the way of other build quality issues -- the first battery status LED (of the four) is somewhere close to twice as bright as the others. Which, makes it seem like the other LEDs aren't actually lit and the light is just "bleeding over" over from the first. So, this unit is going back to Amazon and I'd have to say I'm not particularly happy with Brady at the moment.

An overall great printer
This printer can do up to 1.5" which is great for most any application. It can also print a large variety of lables. My only two issues with it is that it will not accept some lable that were produced before it's creation even though they are the same lable size. My other issue is that when you get to near the end of a roll of lables, it tends to jam up. Other than that, 5/5.

Software Is Awful
The Software that is required to use this printer is mind-numbingly awful and buggy. It is utterly ridiculous.

Will not work on Macintosh
Even though Macintosh computers are widely used, Brady provides no software to work on a Macintosh. The product description fails to mention this limitation.
