Works wonders for sick kids
First of all, we have had this product for probably about three years, and it is still going great! Every time one of the kiddos has a cold, we whip this out! Yes, just like one of the reviews mentions the top is loose so you don’t want to grab it by the head of the dog, but that’s a minor inconvenience for the amazing benefits that this thing brings! I love that you can add essential oils, and we use that frequently to help clear out sinuses. It takes about a minute or two to heat up before the steam starts coming. Once the steam starts coming, I started with a little bit of a distance away from the snout, so that they can get used to it. It is warm, but not burning hot! My four-year-old could handle it just fine! I set a digital timer for five minutes so they can see how much time they have left. They have become pros at this! Five minutes of warm steam does wonders for the lungs and mucus! I always have a box of tissues next to them when they’re doing it so they can blow their nose at any time and they end up blowing their nose a lot throughout the process because a lot of gunk comes out. This is a great substitute for steam baths! Wastes less water, and works just as well!I can’t say enough good things about this invention! If you were on the fence, definitely get it. It will change your life! We live in Minnesota, and in this climate, we always get sick in the winter. Yes, the price point is a little steep, but worth it for us! Like I said, three years later, and the machine still works perfectly!

Using for Yorkie collapsed trachea congestion, works awesome.
I have a Yorkie who has a collapsing trachea, and therefore gets congested in the throat and nose, this has been a saving grace for us.It has a compartment for water and a separate one to add saline, etc. I also purchased the single dose saline here on Amazon, pop one in, hold her on my lap and throw a towel over our heads. I find this better then holding her nose to it, as it does get quite warm. I know this might seem nuts and that we both look nuts under a towel but I don't really care, it works.Machine runs for about 10 minutes and let's out a great amount of steam. When the water runs out, there's a smell like hot plastic. It's not overpowering and it doesn't seem to cause any distress on the machine. On /off switch is located on the cord.Cleans up quite easy and comes with a nice instruction booklet. The plastic piece that a childs face fits to is a softer plastic then the rest of the machine, it also easily removes for cleaning.I have tried every holistic remedy for her, she's goes to a top rated vet hospital for care where she has a team of internal medicine, cardiologist and regular vets (it's really unbelievable) and she's on four daily prescriptions, this little thing helps more then anything else. On bad days we do three sessions, morning, afternoon and night. Usually we only have to do one or two sessions a week. So much better then a warm mist humidifier because she's getting a more concentrated dose. As long as she's happy and not suffering we're going to keep fighting and I couldn't be more pleased with how much this improves her daily life.I hope this review helps someone in the same situation because it's truly a heartbreaking thing to go thru.

Great doggy steam machine
The doggy steam machine works great. I used it for my grandson cold with a liquid call breath that you put in the back of machine where the green part is. It helps break up the cold and congestion very well.

Perfect for cats with chronic sinus problems
I was looking around for an economic nebulizer so I could help my cat that suffers from contanst congestion due to a fractured sinus and also FIV virus. The angle and height of this nebulizer is perfect. I set her up behind the puppy in almost the same position, her face is just a little higher than the mask so I cup my hands around it or sometimes put a towel over my head, her head and around the mask to capture the steam. I can put sodium chloride (saline) into the back for nebulization. She takes it very well and any little bit helps. This also works very well for me, as a grown adult and I love that it doesn't get too hot - I don't have to worry about burning her nose. I bet it is alos perfect for young children that might suffer from allergies or chronic sinus problems.

too hot, cord too short, isn't safe to use with extension cord
Steam is so hot that my kids (5.5 & 3) won't use it. It's fine for me, but makes the kids cry. Its also on a SUPER SHORT cord, and instructions say not to use with an extension cord. Only way my kids can use it is facing the wall, and because of the angle on the tube they have to awkwardly bend over it or kneel up to a table, again facing the wall. If they try to hold it instead so they can sit, the unit tips, as it is meant to be on a stable flat surface. the "extendable adjustable tube" is adjustable by maybe 1" or 1 1/2". If tube was longer, or more adjustable perhaps steam could cool enough to not turn my kids' face bright red and make them stop crying that it's burning their faces.Id rather put them i the bath or spend on the fancy handheld thing the doctor suggested. So much for trying to save money!
