I got this to process scrap sterling and ingot my copper and aluminum piles. I've used electric ones and a larger propane furnace. This 6kg furnace is perfect to learn in and do small batches. Highly highly recommend you rigidize and apply refractory cement to the wool. It'll last longer, stay hotter, and you don't get fibers in the air. The base plate came cracked but customer service immediately offered a replacement without question. Top notch service is a plus! The price point is perfect to get into melting and comes with everything you need day one. Always preheat your molds, tools, and crucibles!

This is a really nice kit. I’m not sure if these reviews cover all the sizes, but I got the 12kg kit, and it’s great. I have a lot of brass that I’ve saved up over the years, and so far I’m about 30 lbs into making ingots, and it’s been flawless. The tongs are stronger/better than I expected, and handle 15lbs of melted brass, plus the heavy crucible no problem. I feel like the propane usage is what I expected, and very reasonable. I just did a pour today, and it was 20 degrees outside, and it all worked great.

A great beginner kit. Everything you need to get started without the excessive expense. When mine came the honeycomb base was broken. The company quickly sent me a replacement. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to see if this is right for them.

The smelter works as it should.The reason for the one star is the honey comb that sits inside was broken.

I am still in the process of preparing the furnace for use, but thus far have no complaints. The included ceramic honeycomb pad arrived broken, but I contacted Molten Masters for a replacement pad, and they sent it out the next day, with VERY good communication throughout the process. I expect the furnace to be problem-free going forward. One tip - the refractory insulation that comes with the furnace really needs to be prepared before use with a rigidizer solution, and then once that is completely dry and the wool is rigid, a thin layer of refractory cement should be applied over the wool. This will prevent tiny fibers of the insulation from breaking off and becoming airborne during use - you REALLY do not want to be breathing those in. Ideally a kit should include the rigidizer and refractory cement, but at this price I am not complaining about having to buy it separately. I would also recommend picking up a sturdier set of tongs, as the provided set will work, but aren't ideal. All in all I'm happy with my purchase, and can recommend this product.

This an incredible machine, fully engineered for performance at a hobbyist price there store has advanced shelter if that is you desire. Works great and at the right price for novices

Heated it for the third time today and did get my job done and the furnace looks no worse for wear. No complaints. The crucible that comes with it, however, totally disintegrated on the third use. I had to attempt to pour my copper with the crucible falling apart.Edit: the crucible damage was most likely my own fault as I’ve since learned how to properly temper a crucible. I just didn’t do this one correctly.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift and he is so excited about it. It did come with a broken base plate but the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently through Amazon and the seller. Assembly was easy and seems to function as it should so far. The heat retention seems to be better than that of an electric furnace and a nice size for starting out
