Arrived on time although does not have all the information the 10th Edition have.

Well written. I loved the examples of the actual counseling sessions with to explain a counseling approach.

This was the text for my Helping Relationships class for my MA in CMHC. I found the organization and layout of the book to be really challenging. Even though this is the 8th edition, there were numerous typos and even one section where a complete paragraph was duplicated. This book could really benefit from a good editor and a rework of the layout to make it easier to read and more user-friendly. There were endless headings and subheadings and it was easy to lose track of where you were in the process. Sometimes terms weren't clearly defined. The authors turned the 5 stages of change into a 13 stage model. It seems quite unrealistic to expect a counselor to keep in mind a 13 stage model of change when working with a client. The client examples lacked a cultural diversity that I would hope to find in a book published in 2019. I don't recall any LGBTQ relationships represented in the case examples and there was a lack of religious diversity as well. While I did learn things from this book, overall I was disappointed.

This book is so expensive for what it is!! I could not afford to buy it. I simply rented it for a still-crazy amount. Now... it’s gone. No more access. Not useful to me in any way. Content was good. Price and rental idea was terrible.

Currently in school and had the electronic version of this book. Would’ve loved to have a hard copy to use for future assignments.
