Very sturdy
This umbrella stand is very sturdy fir it's size and was exactly what I was looking for. The length of the tube gives it alot of stability and the fact that it has a drain hole in the base is a plus. I mounted this stand directly onto the decking of my balcony and it has worked great.

Compact alternative
This worked well on my composite deck where I usually have an umbrella with one of those large, weighted bases. This is a more compact solution, as long as you are sure you always will want an umbrella there. The anchoring bolts on this thing are very heavy duty, in fact I used smaller ones screwing into the composite decking materials and they seemed to do the job. I like that this bracket uses 2 pole tightening screws (and they even throw in a spare). This helps keep poles that are thinner from moving around and looking crooked. There is a drainage hole in the bottom, completing a design that should do the job and last a long time.

Good product, fair price, misleading description
This is not stainless steel. It is not a "thickened base"--it's either 4.5mm or it's not. How can it have a "sealed bottom with a clever drain hole"? It's either sealed or it has a drain hole--it would be clever if it could do both! It's not particularly heavy duty but it's more than adequate for an umbrellas stand.Look, this is an average metal umbrella stand. It is fairly priced. So it should get five stars just for good value. But misleading advertising gets it four stars. If it were junk too, I'd tell you, but it isn't. It works brilliantly as an alternative to the awkward umbrella stands that don't usually hold up in a breeze--with this you design your own and attach it as you see fit.I had a two foot by two foot piece of quartz left over from a kitchen-counter remodel. I drilled four holes, epoxied the stand to the quartz with two-part putty using the four lag screws that came with the stand. Perfect for my 9ft half-circle umbrella! Umbrella stands generally come with a larger diameter pipe than your umbrella pole, so even with the screws to hold the umbrella in place, it's best to use wedges to hold it snug. I did, and it works just fine. I'm happy with it; as long as you are aware no pixie dust was used in making it, you should be too.

Perfect for my yard
I have a small round table that I can put an umbrella in the middle of, but needed a stand so the umbrella wouldn't fall over. This was perfect. I might screw it right onto my deck next summer, but this year, I used camping tent stakes to pin it into the ground. The stand fit my umbrella and was exactly what I needed. The price is really reasonable as well.

Solid Umbrella Tube Stand!
This is a solid, good quality umbrella tube stand. The kit included wood screws, or concrete anchors. Both sets of screws are good and heavy duty. However, either way, I do recommend to use this base under something that stabilizes the umbrella (like a patio table). Although you can mount it solidly into concrete or wood, the umbrella's tall level action may loosen up the mounting screws over time. Otherwise, this is a good solid mount.

Edit: Rust!!! After less.than one year it's just a bunch of rusted parts.
LAST EDIT: it's toast, the whole thing is a rusted mess and it started to rust out my umbrella pole too. Its been removed, and I am now looking for a new one of a different brand in hopes the new one won't rust out in under a year of use. Even the drainage hole had rusted shut. Very disappointed with this umbrella holder, it really was great before it became a giant pile of rusted parts.EDIT: UPDATE 2 After only a little over a week's worth of use, the inside of the stand has started to rust pretty badly. There are also spots externally at the welds. This does not bode well for the longevity of this metal umbrella holder and makes me rather disappointed. This would have been great, but it needs a better powdercoat protection, especially on the inside if the tube. I have removed stars from my original review.UPDATE: works great!!I had planned to use this on my deck umbrella the day it got here. Unfortunately, before it even arrived, a miscommunication left the umbrella out in a storm and it did not survive. Our old holder just used gravity and a tight fit on the umbrella pole to keep it in place, which in bad weather just didn't work out. I think the old umbrella would have had a much better chance of survival in an accidental storm had we had this umbrella holder instead. The holder is solid, made of a thick metal protected by a black powder-coat. It comes with adjustable screws that allow many different pole sizes to fit into the holder. Just tighten both till they push tightly and securely against the umbrella pole. It also comes with self-tapping wood screws to attach the pole holder to a wooden deck, and self locking screws/washers and nuts for securing it to other materials. My kit came with 1 extra of everything hardware wise.I see no reason why this won't be a great deck umbrella holder. I plan on just using the self-tapping wood screws to attach this to my deck. I have to admit, the instructions for the locking screws were a little confusing to me. So I am glad I have a wood deck and can use the other set. When I get a new deck umbrella, I will post updates showing this working as an actual umbrella holder. As of right now it's sitting in it's box, just waiting for an umbrella to hold.
