This thing is a lifesaver
I've had this for over a month now and I've used it several times so I think I have a pretty good handle on my feelings for it. At first I wasn't sure about it because of the intermittent on off cycle but I've come to realize that's just the nature of a vacuum in general, I'm much happier with this thing shutting off for a bit and draining rather than having to bend over, unlatch it and dump the water out like a shop vac or some other pond pumps. Yes, it takes patience and some people don't have it so keep that in mind. If you are keeping your hose submerged for steady vacuuming you will get about 15 seconds of vacuum time then it takes about that long to drain but this thing has serious suction power so if you are on top of things you can vacuum a good chunk of area in that time. On top of its intended purpose it absolutely paid for itself during a storm we just had a couple of days ago. The wind lifted my 7 ft glass patio table and smashed it into my swimming pool, couldn't have just tossed it on the ground no, it had to throw it directly into the pool and with it being tempered glass that means I had thousands of pieces of glass in the bottom of my pool and I had no idea how to get it out because getting it out by hand wasn't an option, the big pieces just crumbled when I tried to pick them up so I ended up using a push broom to push it all into one corner and gave this Pond vacuum a try and it worked better than my wildest dreams, it sucked that glass up like it was nothing and in no time I had my pool free of glass and if this thing could talk I would be giving it all the praise in the world. On top of that there was some glass on the ground too and just sweeping the wand attachments over the grass it was sucking the glass up, I don't care what anybody says I would buy another one of these even if it died a year from now I wouldn't hesitate. Again though, keep in mind before you buy this that you're not going to walk across your entire pool and vacuum it in one go it stops every 15 seconds or so, that being said when you buy it and realize you can't rush through your job don't blame the product maybe rethink owning a pond because nothing about Pond ownership is fast and easy.

Would give zero stars
Update to the review below: this is the biggest piece of junk! Never got it to ever function properly. It actually blew the muck around most of the time, causing great problems. Failed to suck up the muck in every occasion. I absolutely hate this purchase! DO NOT BUY.The switch off function makes the job tedious and time consuming. I found that the machine was basically sucking water but not much debris or muck. At times it would stop suctioning as if there were a blockage; however when I inspected the tube and the cleaning attachment there were no obstructions. I’m not at all happy with this purchase. Would not recommend.

Works ok just keeps stopping every 30 seconds which takes forever to use
Cleaned out my pond suction is great and it’s easy to use only issue is it don’t vaccum continue it stops every 30 seconds the. Drains then starts up again which slows down the process but it works good

Learn about how these work to control your expectations before you buy.
I see some bad reviews because people didn't understand how these vacs work before they bought. This is not a continuous suction vacuum. There are such vacuums out there, btu they're much more expensive. This vac comes on for a while (I think 20 or 30 sec), then it shuts itself off for a while (maybe 20 or 30 sec) to drain, then turns on again and keeps repeating. You might think, well I can do that with the shop vac I have in my garage. Well yes you can but you have manually turn of the vac and drain/dump the water every 30 sec because that's how quickly the vac will fill up with water. I tried it. It's frustrating and hard labor. This vac's drain hose has a flap at the end of the hose to allow water to drain out when vacuum is off, and the flap closes when the vac is on.Cleaning will be very slow, but it does do its job. My pond is rectangular, 18ft x 3ft. It took me ~45 minutes to vacuum the entire pond bottom. I didn't do a detailed cleaning, just sucking up whatever sludge, poop and dirt I could see. Suction is ok for removing sludge and sand/mud. It's not strong enough to pick up pebbles and go all the way up the hose. It's also slow because suction is not good enough to use a wide head. I had to use the narrow heads. Otherwise suction was too low. The opening of the smaller heads are about 3 inches wide. So, imagine vacuuming a 3 inch wide path and you have to go pretty slowly, slower than vacuuming carpet. Don't expect to be able to suck up string algae, even using the brush head. The brush bristles are to soft to break algae loose. In my case the working speed, including having to wait for the the vac to drain, was ok because the rate of water loss was about the same rate my hose was able to refill the pond. Also the breaks let the water settle so I could see what I was doing. The only problem I had initially was the overflow kept activating because of the cloth basket filter. By overflow, I mean like how wet/dry vacuums have a ball that float up and block the suction when the vac is too full of water. Water kept collecting in the basket until the water level rose to where the float went up and blocked the suction. I'd have to turn off the vac, let the water drain through filter and let the float drop. Or open it up and dump water out of the basket. After this happening 8 or 9 times, it stopped happening. If it continued, I would have poked holes in the basket to let water through. My only real complaint is there's no holder for the tools, pipes and hoses.
