Got quoted $400 to install one of these. Knowing that they were only $20 and take less than 15 minutes to put them in, I declined using the tech to replace the one I had. It was still working, but was right on the brink of needing to be replaced. So...Bought my own and replaced it. Easy Peasy.

OEM Capacitor for Trane XR13 3.5 Ton Condenser
This is the OEM capacitor on our TRANE 3.5 Ton XR13 AC Condenser (part number 27L947 / D156132P19). You'll know it needs replacing if the cylinder is blown out. I recommend taking a picture so you can rewire the new one correctly, but it's pretty straight forward and the capacitor is usually labeled on top. If not, use the prong guide below to tell which wires go where. Make sure the system is off and there is no power to the compressor or air handler before installing the new capacitor,.General wiring guide :Fan (SINGLE prong) is typically a brown wire.Compressor/Herm (TRIPLE prong) - typically orange or yellow wireCommon (QUADRUPLE prong) - typically one or two wires, black, red, purple
