I've had the same Estwing 22oz. smooth-head framing-hammer, for over 28 years and used it in framing and fabricating over 100 structures. I can still sink a 16d sinker into SPF, with one set and one strike. Estwing makes the best quality framers I've ever used. BIG SIDENOTE: Always test the Hammers you want, for "ringers" before you buy them. The one I had before this one was an Estwing 28oz. framer, but it was a ringer; drove me almost mad! I (it was also just a bit too heavy for my wrist, at some angles & late in the day) I finally had to throw it in a lake and go test/buy the 22oz. I have now.

Depends what you class as long and what you class as short but its longer then a standard curved claw 20 oz but not as long as a martinez or stilleto
