As advertised, this stuff has a stronghold and a very dry, matte finish. It is a thick clay, and a little goes a long way. I have straight hair that grows straight down, and this stuff does a great job of giving it texture and volume with a hold that lasts all day. The finish is natural and doesn't look caked or shiny.It's best when used in slightly damp hair, and you really need to work it in your hands before applying. Don't overdo it, or your hair gets hard to work with. I hit it with a cool blow dryer after it's in to help style and set the hold. It's probably best for shorter hair, but it works well in my longer style. You just have to get the amount right. Again, start small and add more if needed.I had not heard of this brand before, but I have tried many, many similar products. This one is up there in terms of hold and matte finish. Considering how little of the product you need, there is quite a bit in the tin. You can't go wrong with the price; it's a good value.

I really like clay based hair sculpting products, but I found this “CBB By Charles Blades Clay of the Bay: Hold Level 8.5 | Matte Styling Hair Growth Clay” to be particularly difficult to work with. It's surprisingly thick, making it hard to spread evenly. I think for someone with a bold hairstyle looking for extreme hold this might be perfect, but I prefer a light/medium hold hair product that I can apply more consistently. This product does come in a very nice tin, but it is very small; perhaps it would be ideal for travel, but for daily use I'd prefer a more substantially sized product.

This CBB by Charles Blades clay of the day hair clay works pretty good. It has a really thick texture so I rub it between my fingers for a bit to soften it up first. It has a pretty strong hold that keeps my hair in place all day and it has a nice vanilla coconut scent to it. Good working matte hair clay.

Its my fault for ordering this without realizing it was a strong hold. I was looking for a more medium soft hold.If you do need a very strong full day style hold with a slight shine this is perfect for you. The smell is light and pleasant, not overpowering and not something that'll take the place of cologne like some of these products. Overall a really great product and I was happy to get to test out something based in my local area. I'll be snapping up a medium hold as soon as I can.

This styling clay has very good hold , I applied it to my husband's damp hair and worked it through and had decent results , however it took me a long time to open it ! this clay comes in a tin and i tried everything to get it open and the lid would not screw off or come off it was so tight i didn't think i would ever get it open but after a frustrating hour finally i was able to pry it open . Aside from the not being able to open the container easily the clay itself is decent and does keep the hair the style you want .

Has a good strong hold and a nice fresh scent to it. The lid was a little difficult to get off the first time, but after I got it off the first time I haven't had any issues since. It does have a light blue/gray color to it, but the color fades as you rub it into your hair.

I am impressed with this clay. It is easy to manipulate and holds very well. Good scent and nice not too shiny finish. I have been using it daily for a while now and I always look sharp. I can recommend this for a quality product with nice hold and texture.

This thick pomade clay smells great, is easy to work into the hair, and keeps it in place with a lightweight feel. The product is very thick, but a little goes a long way. Work into your fingers first, then lightly touch the hairs you want to manipulate. Hair stays in place and looks even better after a blowout - the product is still workable afterward. No noticeable residue or color remains after application.
