I like to have an occasional beard that comes and goes on a whim. I like to keep it neat and tidy but be able to get rid of it at short notice. I don't want to spend a lot of money for a solution, and want something simple and compact. This kit is both of those things.It's incredibly easy to use and the trimmer itself is made by Braun - so a trusted brand in this space. The moisturizer is a Gillette branded one that feels and smells nice and doesn't remain greasy on your skin/stubble/beard. It absorbs nicely. You get a selection of combs (I think that's the right term) to trim your beard to the desired length. I find the blade on the trimmer good enough to use without a comb to trim the edges of the beard without too much hassle.When it's time to get rid of my beard, I do feel this struggles a little to cut the beard back nicely. It does fill up of hair quickly and can become uncomfortable, pulling out hairs rather than cutting them. I'm sure if I used the shortest comb possible first, this would alleviate that problem, but would take double the time having to trim the beard twice.As a gift set it's nice, but perhaps pricey. I think you could probably get a better trimmer for a little less money, but with the moisturizer included (and it's a generously sized bottle) it probably feels close to being good value.If you're an occasional beardy - it's worth a try.

I have to admit that I did not see the Braun logo in the photos or connect the dots with "King C. Gillette" actually being an official Gillette product, so was pleasantly surprised to discover that this "stubble kit" is the result of a team-up between two of the leading manufacturers of shaving products worldwide.It contains a trimmer, four guide combs, a charger, and a bottle of moisturizer. It also contains a manual, which identifies the trimmer as actually a full-body trimmer and lists a further two guide combs and a cap for the trimmer, but those are not present in this set, so it looks like they have repurposed an existing product for this set.The trimmer looks really high quality. It is very similar in design to a very popular rival product but the whole thing just feels more premium, with a really nice metal blade, and a reassuring weight to the body.I use the rival product for edging my beard and tidying up my neck area, so I tried the same with this product, and the first time I used it, it achieved a really close shave on the cheeks and jawline and was able to do my neck without snagging on anything, however, within days it had become largely ineffective and needed multiple passes to get all the hair. Even on larger areas of the body like arms or chest, it just feels blunt.It is also slightly let down by the fact it uses a bespoke charger that ends in a shaving plug, whereas most products these days use USB-C for higher compatibility, and the head does not seem to be removable/replaceable.The moisturizer that is included in the set is also good. It has a subtle, yet pleasant aroma, and is absorbed into the skin quickly and without leaving the skin feeling oily. It also moisturizes my beard well too.

I got this gift set for my husband as he is now into styling his beard. The set features a beard trimmer and facial moisturizer and both of the products fit together really well. It's good that men can have the grooming tools they need, that work.The beard trimmer is very versatile. It’s a pretty close-to-skin shave if you don’t put any of the guards on. My husband shaves his face, body and eyebrows with it! You can shave to a smooth touch, shape it up or style it with a handful of attachments. The moisture has a nice consistency and makes his skin very soft and feels so nice to apply it on the skin after using the trimmer. It is a very hydrating cream and does not irritate his sensitive skin. Definitely a winner.All in all, it comes down to the individual. All I can say is the performance and quality of both of the products suit my husband's needs. It is worth giving a go for the price! I can’t fault it.
