Awesome pen, my EDC from now on
The pen came with an empty ink cartridge but Rite in the Rain has amazing customer support and they sent me a replacement ink cartridge quickly. Great little EDC pen, solid feel, good weight and writes very smoothly.

Great little pen for Geocaching!
This pen is compact, comfortable in the hand, and writes well in adverse conditions. In other words, it's great for geocaching. In cold weather, the ink is a little slow when sketching.Note: I have not tested ink for light fastness, but in a sketchbook that won't matter much anyway.

Good pen, but . . .
The portage pen is a well-built writing instrument. The brass body & steel clip will repel repeated use. What's not to like of the Fisher refill? The balance is very good while writing with & without the protective cap.Therein lies its weakness though. The plastic retention ring inside the cap needs re-design. It grips the pen quite well when writing, but when returned to cover the bottom ¾ of the pen, it lacks adequate retention. A couple of moderate ertical shales will totally dislodge the pen section, leaving the owner with an empty cover & pocket clip. It can't be trusted under normal useto keep the pen closed & protected. It certainly wouldn't be protective under more adverse conditions. The bottom, pen portion will slide from the cover. A couple of reviewers encountered similar issues & were left with only the men's cover & pocket clip.

I love this pen.
Writes very well. I love how it disappears in my pocket. Very sturdy pocket clip.

Excellent EDC or field pen
Excellent compact rite in the rain pen. When it’s assembled it has a very solid feel and gives a good grip.

Good pen, HORRIBLE ink cartridge
Pen itself is quite good, if a bit on the heavy side. On the other hand, the ink cartridge that came with it STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN. Seriously, it can't even write in plain, reused paper -- which my half-dollar BICs write to with no issue whatsoever. Fortunately it's exactly the same format as the legendary Fisher Spacepen cartridges, so do yourself a favor and get a couple to use with it instead of suffering the one that comes from factory...

Well made. Love it.
I love this pen and carry it around with me everywhere. It's expensive compared to an ordinary pen, but I love the feel and weight of it, and it does write on almost anything. I have had some space pen ink ooze out of the ball tip sometimes when it sits, but Parker sent me replacements.

Meh.
Tip of pen bent on me and I’m not really sure how. Worked great until then. Still worked I just had a bent pen.
