Hermes Press is providing us with an opportunity to travel back in time to visit our younger days, when the World was quite different.In 1978, Morarji Desai was the Prime Minister of India while Jimmy Carter was the Man in White House.Today, as I pen down these lines in August 2023, Sri Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India while the Old but wise Joe Biden is holding his fort in the White House.Phantom has also changed drastically .Phantom comics are still popular but in comparison to 40 years ago, Phantom has witnessed dramatic decline in the number of his admirers.Phantom is now more tolerant of foreign cultures and is no longer the Salesman for Missionary zeal.Diana almost got killed by the Author and has morphed into a less attractive character while Kit and Heloise have crossed continents to get higher education and jobs.With the demise of Lee Falk , more than 2 decades back, Phantom was bound to change.However, Phantom has been trying hard to get out of the traditional African tone in the initial days of the Comics and adopt to the rapid globalization.Hopefully, the next Edition will continue to cater to our Nostalgic feelings , so that we can look back in delight to the period when Phantom married and made love the beautiful Diana.Waiting for the next Edition.
