Great paddle at an incredible price (Black Friday)
This paddle feels great. I was playing with HISK RAV PRO which is also a great paddle, but moved to this for different feel with unibody design vs sandwich and it's been great. better control, better power modulation. Great feel. I wish it didn't have the protective edge like Selkirk does as I hit the side sometimes and it wonks me out. But overall it's also good to have protection. I recommend this over any $200+ paddle any day of the week.

Professor PHD, all around great paddle
The media could not be loaded. So to summarize the video. If you are a novice or intermediate player and your still looking for a great paddle that you can advance your game with and not spend 200, 300, or 400 dollars, the Professor PHD is a great all around paddle at a cost of 99 dollars. Like all new players, as I started getting better and playing more competitive I wanted a better paddle but wasn’t sure what to buy. I spent hundreds of dollars on many different paddles and couldn’t find one to fit what I wanted, until I found the Professor PHD paddles. This paddle has a great pop when hitting power shots and a real positive feel of the ball on the paddle for better inking control and this raw carbon super spin paddle really grips the ball and allows you to get amazing spin. In the video you can see the curve and sideways hop on the ball. Don’t waste anymore time and money looking for the right paddle, Go buy yourself a Pickleball PHD today and elevate your game.

The BEST new paddle on the market!
I'm a tournament player and recently switched to the Professor PhD and love what it's doing for my game! The shape of the handle feels so comfortable in my hand and the extra length is helpful for my two hander. The heavy grit of the carbon face is giving me more spin on my drops. I like that the logo and wording on the paddle surface is not raised, so it doesn't impact the ball like some other brands. I bought one with a black edge guard and one with a white edge guard. The white guard is my favorite look. This paddle is well worth the money!

A great mid-market paddle.
Updated Review 3/12/24After a few more matches with it, I've increased my rating to 4 stars. This has become my son's go-to paddle out of our fleet of almost two dozen paddles. All are in the $89-$250 range, as the sweet spot for quality seems to be around $99-$149 before you get into the top-tier paddles. With that in mind, and considering the price I paid ($79 on sale), this is a fantastic paddle. After some additional use, my son believes this paddle to be far more consistent than some of the others in a similar price range, so I've updated the rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. Especially after he asked to buy another to have the same paddle as a backup.Original Review:We purchased this particular paddle on the recommendation of a worker/player at our local Pickleball spot for our son. He mentioned that they were (In his mind) as good as the $200 paddles on the market for a better/budget price. I researched them, and folks seemed to like them, but the reality is that this isn't any better than any other carbon fiber paddle you can get in the $70 price range. Sadly, it's not up there with the $200 paddles in any way. It's a nice beginner/intermediate paddle, but it's not what we thought it would be. If I had this to over I would have simply put him in the right paddle tier and spent the extra. Buy Once, Cry Once. Now I get to cry twice. It's not terrible; it's a solid $70 paddle which is what we paid on a Cyber Monday-type sale. There are a lot better control/power and medium paddles for the $99 price point.

It's a great paddle
This is a great paddle for the price. Got it from latest Amazon sale and I find it better than my first "learning" paddle. It has good spin, good control and I'm fine with the power. I did put on a leather over grip which in hind site I probably should have removed the first grip as the leather grip makes the handle a little fat, I do get a lot more top spin with this paddle. Unfortunately I do not have experience with more expensive paddles but this one works well for me. I may customize a bit more but it is really quite good "right out of the box"

I had such high hopes, but...
I'm a lifelong racquet sports fanatic who has taken up pickleball seriously for the past 6 months. As a rapidly improving Intermediate, I own over a dozen paddles, and enjoy playing pickleball daily with my variety of racquet styles and sizes.I was excited to try out the raw carbon PhD, which is Professor's flagship model. It came nicely boxed (suitable for gift-giving) and well-protected. The inclusion of a paddle cover would have been a nice bonus; but to me that's not a deal breaker, as many $200+ models don't add a free cover.I removed the PhD from the box, gave it my favorite Continental shake-hands grip, and did a few air swings. Disappointingly, the paddle felt swing-weight heavy, while the handle seemed bulkier than the advertised 4.25". Sure enough, my measurements confirmed this first impression. (See photos.) Paddle weight was 8.3 ozs (vs. 8 ozs in the company description), and grip circumference was 4.5" clearly more than the advertised 4.25". I found the paddle too bulky, and the thick handle, with its annoyingly pronounced edges, too uncomfortable to hold and swing. Therefore, I made the decision to process a return, without even trying it out a single time on the courts. It's a shame because I was able to pick it up at a discounted price on Amazon Prime Day. More importantly, from every other aspect, the PhD looks like a solidly built item, with very gritty surfaces to enhance spin. It is also very pleasing aesthetically, with its Joola Hyperion hybrid contour, and attractive graphics. For these reasons, I feel it only fair to give the DGYCASI Pro a higher than one-star rating. I sincerely hope this startup company improves and upgrades its premium model with a better, less bulky grip, in which case I would be happy to give it a thorough usage test and review.
