Skip Hop Central Park Outdoor Blanket, Wave Dot (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I bought this to take with me to the park. I have a very active 3 year old that can stay at the park for hours and I also have a 6-month old baby who no longer just sits still in the stroller. I needed something I can lay down in the shade where my infant can sit and play while providing me a place to sit too (usually the benches at the playground are always occupied or have lots of bird poop on them!)It's easy to fold, easy to open up, and looks nice. I get many compliments on them and people ask me all the time who makes it. It's big enough for me and my kids to sit on. Usually my toddler will come by to rest between plays and to eat his snacks. It doesn't seem to stain easy, it has a wipeable fabric that's water resistant. The stripes are really bold. At first I didn't like that but after using it the bold colorful stripes are good for hiding any stains you may get on the blanket.It also comes with a little cooler bag which is easily removable by undoing the zipper, but it doesn't hold much. It is a good enough size for me to stick 2-3 juice boxes and some snacks like string cheese or granola bars. I mainly use it to keep my wallet and keys, plus a diaper and wipes so that I don't have to carry a separate bag with me. It works well for me.When not opened up, I use it to use as a cushion to sit on the grass if I have the baby in the stroller and I don't need all the space of the blanket. I do wish it was a bit larger, as it seems just adequate enough for one adult and two babies. I tried to sit on it with 3 of my friends and everyone was kind of falling off the edge of the blanket. Usually I use it when I go to the park with my kids by myself so it works great for me. I bought it for a friend as well and she loves it too!

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I thought this was a little pricey but am so glad I bought it! We have already had two occasions in the past month when this blanket was absolutely essential. The part you sit on is very soft even though it is a more waterproof like material. It is wonderful that the bottom is a canvas, sturdy material. And it is a good size - bigger than other blankets in same price range. I love the cooler attachment part and it doesn't feel bulky with stuff in it when carrying it on your shoulder. I like the print a lot and looked around for some other Skip Hop items with the same print. There's a diaper clutch and a dry/wet bag that I will purchase to match. I definitely find this to be one of the most practical purchases I've made. Really very useful!

Purchased from Australia as they are nearly double the price here. SO happy with my purchase. It is compact, easy to re-fold and the carry strap is great to hook over the pram handle. When using on grass it is very easy to brush off the leaves or grass stuck on it. The cooler bag is on the small side, but it is perfect for the kids lunches and snacks (it's a bonus really, I bought the blanket for the blanket, not the cooler bag!) No strong odour like some others I have seen. Highly recommend this blanket.

This is the second easy-to-clean, waterproof blanket I tried (the J J Cole blanket was very nice, but as other reviewers commented, it smelled like petroleum/oil products, even after airing out and two washings, so I returned it for this one). This one is also BPA free. It does what it says--it's lightweight, easy to carry, and wipes up very easily. It's a little bit on the small side, but fits two adults and two babies very easily. And, because it's quilted and of stiffer material than regular cotton or wool blankets, it lies flatter on grass or uneven surfaces than regular blankets and is harder for babies to pick up with their fists and put in their mouths. I'd buy one again.

This blanket is great for playtime in the park. Good quality, water resistant and does not have the toxic plastic smell so many others seem to have (ick!). It's quite colorful too, so easy to keep clean. The attached cooler bag is nice for snacks and drinks. The blanket provides lots of space, but is easy to fold to take on the go.

Blanket it really easy to bring along whether on bike, stroller or in a suitcase. Folds up nice and easily, comfortable and can be used as a seat cushion too at the playground (for mom). Love the shoulder strap, that it is PVC and BPA free and the cooler bag is also nifty, though we don't use it with the blanket, but on its own. I'm not too impressed with the color options or the price (therefore 4 stars and not 5). Despite the few reservations I have about the blanket, it makes my life easier, I feel comfortable with my son on it and I would buy it again.

I ordered both this and the JJ Cole. I like this one much better and am returning the JJ Cole. For starters, it folds up much flatter, the JJ Cole looks extremely frumpy. The strap on the Skip Hop is nearly twice as thick as the strap on the JJ Cole, which is way too narrow (would not be comfortable or stable, for me, carrying around) and looks seriously cheap. Speaking of cheap, the sewing on the JJ Cole was all crooked. The JJ Cole also has a large velcro strip -- that is how it is secured when folded as a bag versus the zippers on the Skip Hop. You know what happens to velcro when it lies on the grass or the beach...every little bit of dirt, dead grass, sand etc gets embedded in it. Blech.The Skip Hop looks a lot more sophisticated/clean when carrying. Also, if you zip the accessory bag (that the JJ Cole doesn't have) off of it and leave it folded up, you can use this as a seat pad for stadium or bleacher seating. All in all, there was not one thing that I liked better about the JJ Cole, and thus far I have no complaints re: the Skip Hop. Great execution. Now I would like to see another model that is larger, I would love different sizes.

We love this foldable blanket. Great for trips the park, the beach, concerts, soccer games, etc... Fits family of four with small children. The top coat is easy to wipe off if liquid is spilled. It took a couple of tries to get it folded it up the first time, but after that you learn. There are little tabs with arrows that point which direction to fold incase you forget. It all folds back up into a nice shoulder bag. We just leave it in the back of the car because it so handy.

Skip Hop products are hit or miss in my experience but this product is probably my favourite; it’s pricey but a lot of similar picnic blankets are in the same price range. A good size: 2 adults and a baby/child can fit nicely or a couple of kids. I love the colours and the quality is nice. The folding takes some getting used to but not overly difficult. The best part is you can sling it over your shoulder and free up your hands to carry other stuff.

Bought it when my baby was a few months old to go to the park, still using it now he's almost 3. Perfect for the park, beach. Dries easily, cleans easily, lightweight, and folding-system with zippers is perfect to pack up and go!

Love it. Used it all summer. Easy fold and unfold. Decent size similar to all the other products of its kind. The cooler bag is a bit small but that's to be expected. Nice colours too.pretty lightweight to carry too

I was looking for an outdoor picnic-type blanket and that is what I got. Bonus: it's water-proof and folds into a bag. Love it!

Everywhere we take this blanket, people comment on how great it is and they are right! It's so compact and cleans off so easily. It's great to have a place to sit in the grass or sand with the kids. It's also great for the adults to lounge on when the kids are running around.
