Delivers a great shave in 60 secs
Bought to replace a 10+ year old 7000 series, I’m a bit of a tech geek, so I considered buying the top of the range series, for the Bluetooth ‘personal settings’ and metering, then I got a bit realistic and I’m pleased I did. IMHO this razor is night and day better than I expected. I have a shave that’s as smooth as a wet shave and finished in a minute. It’s quiet, good weight and delivers what It should.

Great shave
I’m in my late seventies and this is the first electric shaver that I’ve had so I am not comparing it to previous ones but purely on its merits. I have used it every day for the last month mostly dry but sometimes with shaving soap and brush. Either way it does a brilliant job and is easy to clean under the tap. It is very quiet and much quicker than shaving with a blade and no cuts !! As you get older the skin gets more fragile and cuts quite easily with blades so this is the answer for me. I have just put it on charge for first time and it has one bar remaining but I didn’t want it to run out halfway through a shave but it may well have been ok for another week yet. I love it. It may seem large but I have no issue at all shave with it.

smooth shaving
Gives the smoothest, closest shave I've ever had from a shaver. Very easy to follow facial contours, even the tricky ones. It's quiet and holds the charge well. If I'm looking for minus points I'd say there are three:1. surprising lack of foil guard (not a major problem if you always return it to its container)2. charging via USB. This means I can't charge from the 2-pin socket in the bathroom so have to goelsewhere in the house. Nt a major hassle, but . . .3. You instinctively hold it at the slimmer end of the body but I found I kept inadvertently hitting theoff button. You avoid this by holding it right up underneath the head. That said, I think it's a quality item at what is, comparatively, a fairly reasonable price.TIP: these circular cutter heads have a tendency to fall out if you try to clear them out by tapping the body and all of a sudden they're in the hand-basin. I used a small aerosol can of air my son had given me and it works a treat although I'll probably rig up some sort of hand-operated puffer to replace it when it runs out.

Good purchase
Provides a smooth clean shave and is gentle on your skin. As a long term user of philishaves, this is a good purchase.

Philips Shaver Series 5000
Having used a Philips shaver 3000 model for a few years now I’ve noticed that lately it doesn’t do such a good job as it used to even with replacement heads. When the motor started making screeching noises I decided to replace it with this later model. This holds the charge well and is much quieter than the older model. In addition an improvement is the USB charging unit which I can have sitting beside the shaver socket. This certainly gives a much closer shave. I’m glad to see this model has reverted to having an integral hair trimmer which was a separate unit on my older one. The finishing touch is a nicely designed case in which to store it. Overall I’m very pleased with this and consider it well worth the cost at under £!00.Update 14/05/24: having had this for 6 weeks I can honestly say that this is a much improved shaver. I have used it daily and realise that the angled corners of the shaver help get into those recessed areas where stubble can be missed. This model certainly holds the charge extremely well. My daily shave takes about 5 minutes and I charge it once a week even though there's plenty of 'juice' left indicated by the 2 of 3 led lights aparent when charging.

Good performance = smooth shave
Brought this to replace and old Remington shaver. Having never used a rotary razor before I was pleasantly surprised at the performance and the smooth shave it gives. Also noticed how quite the shaver is compared to the last couple I have owned.

Fabulous shaver
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he is very happy and impressed with it.The neatness of the design with a much more slimline area around each head gives greater contour control and the flip up trimmer gives precision where needed. It’s design of smaller heads ensures daily cleaning rather than leaving if too long and having it sit dirty.Recommended from the previous old style of the same make.

Strange head shape
Just to update my review six months on after purchase.I don't like those black squares of plastic that surround the cutting heads, I don't see any purpose for them and they get in the way of precession cutting. Enough to put me off I think its back to Remington when this packs up.I had a Braun for ten years and a Remington before that so thought I'd have a change. The shaving head is a very strange shape and I wonder why it was designed like it is? I doubt it will continue to look like this.It makes it slightly clumsy and difficult to establish where the cutting blades are, making precision cutting more difficult. It does give a good shave, no better or worse than the Braun. With the Braun it was necessary to purchase a new cutting head every nine moths, I'll have to see how this one works out, but so far so good, after about a month.
