Sensational optical quality and fantastic value
Decent build quality and sensational optical quality right from f/2 make this lens a stunning bargain. Manual focus only, of course, but rangefinder focussing on my Nikon D810 works perfectly and is just fine so long as you don't need to track a moving subject. Even at f/2 the lens is bitingly sharp at the plane of focus, with beautiful background blur. Minimal distortion and chromatic aberrations reinforce the impression of image quality that is right out of the top drawer. The AE version I bought works perfectly with my Nikon, but you do need to change your custom settings to adjust the aperture using the aperture ring. With this kind of quality at this price point I honestly don't see how you can go wrong with this lens.

Pin sharp and a fantastic lens for astrophotographers
The weather hasn't been that great since I have had the lens and of course now we are battling a full moon. Last night and over the past few nights I have used the lens with both a DSLR(Nikon 5300) and ASI533 MC Pro(just a UV/IR filter). Here a few images of the comet C/2022 E3(ZTF) near to Capella(bright) and M31 and M42(remember bright Moon and limited exposures).I love the lens and found a mounting bracket on FLO to hold everything securely with a guide camera and ASIAIR Pro.Comet at F2.8 2x 120sec and 23 x 60sec on Rosette with 33 x 60sec on Heart Nebula all at F2.8

A classic for astrophotography
I am far from the best astrophotographer out there but you need decent kit in order to achieve anything in this hobby.A well built lens which feels very solid in the hand. Connected easily to my canon 1100d and the provided lens bag was a nice touch. The only limits of this lens seem to be the skills of the photographer. It allows for f2 images to be captured which just sucks up the starlight maximising the very limited imaging time which the UK weather affords us.I would recommend this lens.

My husband seems to love it
This was an early Xmas present for my husband. He is into Astrophotography. He has tested it out but apparently November-December will be the best time to use when there are darker skies. Already he has taken photos and the quality is amazing. He is extremely happy with his gift and is able to capture some pretty spectacular stuff already so he is eagerly waiting for darker nights. The item arrived quickly and well packaged.

Best astro lens for the price!
Very sharp, some slight issues on bright stars (off centre halo at wide apertures) but to be expected at this price. The attached image was taken with only 15 minutes of data, goes to show how amazing this lens can be. Definitely recommend for beginner Astrophotographers on a budget!

Good fast lens can get very sharp image
Great lens got this for astrophotography but use it for for other suff aswell manual focus very sharp picture when focused propley. Heavy lens well made good glass fast lens. Can't quite get the focus in on my modded d5300 but fine on unmodified dlsr.

The one I received does not reach infinity focus
Therefore useless for trying to take photos of the stars which are of course at infinity or nears as. I believe from my research, that there is a wide error in the quality control of these lenses and it’s a lucky dip. Being returned for a refund although may try a replacement to see if I’m lucky next time.

Happy with this lens
Happy with this lens, sharp and excellent for portraits. I own the samyang 85mm f1.4 before so already accustomed to the build and manual nature of the lens, the 135mm is similarly sharp, the focus ring very smooth and not as damp as the 85mm (the 85mm was overly damped when focusing). I was after a portrait lens and had earlier purchased the sigma 105mm macro f2.8, but sold that in favour of this samyang which I much prefer (manual lenses are so much more fun!), of course if you need auto focus this lens is not for you. I can shoot at handheld at 1/140 and attain precisely focused shots (nikon confirmation dot), although after hand holding for about 2hrs it does become very heavy with the SLR. Image quality, contrast and colour rendition is very good, even shooting in sunlight it is well controlled. Bad points: lens cap and hood
