The product came in little rocks rather than a powder and needed to be ground in a pestle and mortar before using.

A good additive for curries
This product blends in reasonably easily with the herbs and spices you are using in a curry (I grind all together with a mortar and pestle). It does add a reasonably noticeable tamarind flavour to the curry - albeit not as strong as you get when you use the dried paste - but that takes a fair amount of time and is a lot of hard work and (indeed) mess for that extra bit of flavour. I am happy to add this to my everyday curries.
