If your child loves magic they will love these!
My daughter absolutely loves anything magical and especially Magic Mixies. I bought two, one for her who is 7 and one for her cousin who is 9 and they had so much fun opening these on Christmas Day. You follow the spell adding various ingredients until a magic mixie appears. Even after the excitement of opening it, they played with the plush toy and also used the empty cauldron for more spell making!

This was requested specifically and repeatedly by my child as a birthday gift after watching the video and despite being warned it would not be as "magical" as it seemed... my expectations were very low and I was still disappointed by it - my child was totally deflated. The fizzing is minimal and over very quickly, the colour change bits minimal (still need to make the fur change with a degree of success). The plushie itself is so cheap-looking and looks miserable when taken out of the cauldron (it improves a tiny bit after some brushing). We are basically left with loads of plastic and very, very little fun...
