I recently started pickling as a means to preserve the surplus of cucumbers, peppers, and more coming from my garden this year. After going to several Orange County grocery stores looking for pickling salt with no luck, I had to settle on kosher salt at first since it can be a viable alternative to pickling salt given its lack of anti-caking additives.The kosher alternative seemed to work okay, but true pickling salt is better. Pickling salt is not only free of the anti-caking agents found in normal salt that can affect the color of your pickled goods, but pickling salt grains are also not as as large as kosher salt grains. Using kosher salt means you have to account for these larger salt crystals when measuring for your pickling recipes. Morton's canning and pickling salt grains are like your regular, everyday iodized table salt, meaning I no longer have to fudge the salt measurements.I am very glad I decided to purchase this Morton-brand pickling salt. My pickling is now easier and more delicious than ever! The salt arrived in the box pictured, which is not entirely protected from the elements, but this is not a problem as the box is in a sealed bag upon delivery. Once opened, you really should store pickling salt in an airtight container to avoid moisture-induced caking (remember, pickling salt has none of the anti-caking additives of other salts, so good storage practices are key). I still keep the salt in its box, but I keep the box in a well-sealed ziplock with as much air squeezed out of the bag as possible.I will continue buying Morton pickling salt from Amazon as the cucumbers and peppers just keep coming from the garden! This package I received today has salt all over and some spills out. It’s rapped in plastic around the box with a tag stating (THIS IS A SET DO NOT SEPARATE). It’s looks as though the box has a break in it. Refund or a replacement. I don’t like opened packages.

I love this salt and use it for pickling. I live in a rural area and our store ran out of pickling salt. I found this box on amazon and ordered it because I really needed it. I have to say that the price is too high, this is why I took a star off. But the product itself is wonderful. I am glad it is back on the shelves and I restocked my pantry.

This salt was recommended to me by an alternative health care provider who did so because it is not sourced from the ocean where many salts are obtained. Sadly, our oceans are now pretty polluted by mercury. This health care provider's area of expertise was mercury poisoning (he passed away recently), so he recommended it to his clients.While its taste isn't as full and enjoyable as some of the ocean salts, it still tastes much better than regular table salt. I use it all the time and I don't have to worry about weather I'm adding to my mercury burden.

I'm using this salt in my kitchen for regular consumption since I was looking for something without iodine and extra minerals (and potential toxins) and chemicals added to it. This salt is great! It's actually.... well salty! I find that I no longer have to use salt by teaspoons because a little bit of this salt goes a long way (which is how it's supposed to be). I like that this salt contains nothing else but pure salt. It comes in a really big container too! I highly recommend it.

I do not recommend buying. All 5 boxes leaked salt everywhere, despite an additional outer layer of packaging for shipping within the shipping box. I can't use as received & can't get a refund. Terrible policy.

Purest salt money can buy. I learned about this stuff from Ray Peat, and it's been a fantastic addition to my life and diet. I had been using Himalayan Pink Sea Salt for the last 15 years, and never realized until recently, how negatively that sea salt was affecting my health and well being. Almost immediately after I replaced that with this Morton's salt, I started having all sorts of benefits. Namely, how I digest my food. Great stuff!
