Beware, HOT HOT HOT!! Superb travel mug!
I wanted one of these mostly because - apart from travel - I suffer from insomnia and often wake in the night desperate for a hot cuppa, but if I get up and make one it wakes up Grumpy...so I lie there umming and aahing and often end up not bothering. An ordinary flask would do the job but then you have the faff of taking off the lid and pouring it into a cup/mug before drinking. My sister has a Contigo Travel Mug which she thinks is the bee's knees. Her mug cost around £23 and is attractive with a metallic pink, slimline design (there are other colours). I borrowed it to test it out, and made tea (with a teensy bit of milk) to take to bed at 10.30pm. Sure enough, at around 2.15am I woke up parched and sat up to drink my tea. I was gutted to find it lukewarm after less than four hours, so decided against buying one, although it is ideal for my sis as she takes it to work meetings where it only has to stay drinkably hot for a couple of hours. So I was on the hunt for something more suitable for my purpose, reading dozens of Amazon reviews as usual. Yes, I do need to get a life.So eventually I ended up ordering this Thermos Ultimate (cheaper than my sister's mug too!) and am so glad I did.My first experiment was taking my lovely, mellow filter coffee on a six hour coach trip to an airport (yes, six miserable hours on a bus). I warmed the mug with boiling water for half a minute first then filled it with filter coffee and a small amount of cold milk. Around two hours into my journey I decided to have a drink, and SCALDED MY TONGUE AND UPPER PALATE! So be aware, this travel mug stays very, VERY hot. Nevertheless, once I got over the pain (ouch!!) I was pleased, but I ended up having to take the lid off and blow on my coffee in order to drink it! It was still lovely, hot and tasty after the six hour journey and well into the hideous airport wait. Then I got on my flight and bought a hot chocolate to drink immediately, and a mug of tea, which I poured into the mug. This also stayed REALLY hot throughout the whole 3.5 hour flight, and I left a swallow in the bottom to test how hot it was later. Amazingly, it was still piping hot some seven hours after filling it. AND it didn't taste 'flasky' as tea often does when in a flask for a long time. When I tried out my sister's Contigo mug, I also very much disliked drinking from a slit in the rough plastic top. It felt quite unpleasant, but my sister says she doesn't use that; she takes the whole top off instead and drinks from the metal rim. I wouldn't like that either, I don't think. However, this Thermos Ultimate has a funny little 'cup bit' that is quite pleasant to drink from, so I am very pleased with that too.It doesn't look as funky or trendy as the Contigo or other, inferior but pretty thermal mugs, but this Thermos Ultimate is so much more efficient and pleasant to use. It does not leak at all, either! Mine was upside-down in a carrier bag being bounced around for hours, and was fine.I've not tried it for cold drinks yet, but I assume it will be fabulous for keeping those freezing cold too. In fact, I would imagine ice would stay as ice for quite a while in this!!All in all, VERY chuffed with my purchase. £18 well spent.

Keeps my drink perfectly hot!!
I’ve been using the Thermos 185198 Direct Drink Flask for a few weeks now, and I’m thoroughly impressed. Here’s why:Temperature Retention: This flask truly lives up to its promise. Whether I fill it with piping hot coffee in the morning or refreshing iced tea for an afternoon pick-me-up, it keeps the temperature just right. Hot drinks stay hot for hours, and cold beverages remain refreshingly chilled.Sturdy Build: The stainless steel construction feels robust and durable. I accidentally dropped it once (oops!), and there wasn’t a scratch. Plus, the cool-touch exterior is a thoughtful feature—I don’t have to worry about burning my hands.Sleek Design: The charcoal color gives it a sleek, modern look. It’s equally at home on my office desk or during outdoor adventures. The 470 ml size is perfect for my daily hydration needs.Leak-Proof: No spills! The secure lid ensures that my bag stays dry, even when I toss the flask in there alongside my laptop and books.Easy to Clean: The wide mouth makes cleaning a breeze. I can easily reach every nook and cranny with a bottle brush.Overall, the Thermos 185198 Direct Drink Flask has become my trusty companion. Whether I’m commuting, hiking, or just lounging at home, it keeps my drinks at the ideal temperature. Highly recommended!

Honest review, genuine purchase
I am not sure about the claims about the time it will keep things cold. I have actually had it in my freezer for two hours before filling with refrigerated water and yes it was still cold a couple of hours later but no more so than cheaper steel flasks I own.Overall the design is really nice and the locking lid is neat and really does stop any leakage (but then so do the screw cap flasks I have). The drinking spout is nice but this is my real grip with this flask. When you got near to empty and have to tip the flask to a greater angle to obtain the remained of the fluid inside, you get squirted in the face by the small breather hole situated opposite the breather hole.I appreciate the necessity of the hole for when the flasks are used for hot liquids but it is something you have to be cautious of. This issue does not occur with flasks where you remove the entire lid to drink or have a small screw neck cap on one side of the lid.Still it is Thermos and so is well built but one star off for a small niggle. Also the lid has to be dissembled to clean, so is again not as easy as my other flasks.

Great flask for hot drinks
Was trying to find one big enough to be worth using and jold more than one cup but also not too bulky. This 4.7ml is a Lovely little flask. Tall and slim so will fit cup holders. Nice size and shape, easy to grip. Lid is held open by a spring so you do not get hit by it or get coffee all over your forehead. I have chucked it in a bag and am confident that it does not leak as it clicks closed and then also has a catch to keep it closed. Most important thing is obviously the drink temperature. I filled it with a coffee shop drink one lunchtime, not the hottest drink, and it was still hot enough to finish drinking at 6pm. Also have it on my desk during the day with the lid open and it is stays hot. I am happy that I chose this one.
