Would buy again
We already have two Mr. Bento Zojirushi SL-JAE14SA Mr. Bento Stainless Steel Lunch Jar, Silver that my husband's lunch goes in every workday. It's not really intended for large amounts of soup, so I finally purchased the Zojirushi lunch jar. It works great. My husband has actually complained that the soup was too hot when he sat down to eat lunch 6 hours after it was packed. The best way to use it for hot food is to pour boiling water into it and let it sit for a few minutes, then dump, shake dry or dry out with a towel, then place warm (not too hot to eat) food inside and seal. For cold food, place ice and water in it and let it sit for a few minutes, then dump, shake dry or dry out with a towel, then place cold food inside.Pros:It is leak proof as long as you close the lid all the way.The included spoon is the perfect length for getting down to the bottom without your fingers going into the food.It is super easy to clean, that stainless steel on the inside doesn't have to be scrubbed, mainly just a good rinse and wipe down.It keeps food hot for a long time (8 hours at least so far). The carry bag has a little extra room inside for bread, crackers, or a snack. At 25 ounces, it packs right around 3 cups of food (can't fill it all the way to the top as the lid fits down into the neck of the jar).Cons:Not dishwasher safe (I know it's easy to clean, but sometimes you wanna be super lazy). It can actually be too hot to eat from if you heat your food too far.In all, we love this jar, and it's completely worth the price.

This is what a wide-mouth soup thermos aspires to be
Are you tired of cool soup at lunch? This is a fantastic item. Do you want to carry a wholesome soup for lunch at the office? Are you a hunter or fisherman that needs a little extra nourishment in the field and would love hot soup or chili during a break? This is a wonderful item that does what it says, it keeps it hot. I've spent a lot of money on other wide-mouth thermoses, but this finally fits the bill. It will hold two cans of regular soup with added water for more soup, and you will be a hit in the duck blind when you have enough to share with your buddy. The added spoon goes all the way to the bottom, and it has been formed in a way to ladles the soup to your mouth. It doesn't just spill back into the container, it is a small ladle. Yes, I'm even impressed with the spoon. This feels strong enough to last many days in the field or carrying to the office.

Great Food Jar-updated 09/04/2013
Great food jar! Large enough to serve two people. Today, I used it for the first time, and it worked great. My day went as follows:« 4:45AM--Filled thermos with hot water while I ate breakfast« 5:00AM--Filled thermos with boiling hot homemade soup. (2---2 cup glass round storage containers filled it completely.)« 5:30AM-8:00AM--Spinning/driving--thermos in car @ about 40 degrees« 8:00AM-1:00PM--Office room temperature« 1:00PM--Late working lunch in the next town. I was thankful no lunch prep was needed. 8 hours since filling thermos!!Very happy to say my soup was very hot and had to eat it very slowly! Couldn't finish soup« 2:30PM--Tried another scoop of soup to test temperature, not quite as hot, but perfect soup temperature!Bag is nice and is large enough to fit a drink beside the thermos. The spoon is absolutely perfect for scooping food from a large jar but is rather awkward to eat from. With that being said, the spoon is well made, sturdy, and does such a great job of scooping, I couldn't possibly deduct a star. The only other down side to this thermos is the price, but filling this jar often with healthy food will soon pay for itself. EnjoyUpdated-Perfect for cold smoothies. I freeze fresh strawberries and process with vanilla yogurt. Keeps nice and cold---too cold to eat quickly. Love it in the heat of summer!

I have owned and used many Zojirushi appliances/items in my life and have never had any bad experiences with any of them
Needed a bigger thermos for my daughter to take to school and to accommodate her appetite as she continues to grow. I have owned and used many Zojirushi appliances/items in my life and have never had any bad experiences with any of them. I like that this jar came with a long ladle like spoon and lunchbag so I don't have to buy additional accessories to accommodate. It's VERY well made and the quality is certainly worth the price, especially when you put in mind the longevity of many Made in Japan products. Surprisingly, this cost more in Japan than it did in US and many in-stores did not have this larger size yet their smaller sizes cost the same as this larger one at Amazon!I have used this for both cold and hot food - by the time my daughter eats her lunch at school, the hot food is still hot without it being scorching and the cold is cold without it being frozen. I was actually hoping to buy it in the blue or pink but many have mentioned how the coating chips etc despite careful handling or little use so I ended up buying the "au naturale" - generic SS with black trim to avoid having that issue. So far, my 6yr old loves it and the size works for my hubby when our daughter is on her sandwich days... <(^.^)>
