Great rods
Perfect for thin gauge metal very cheap but good quality don't get damp or if you notice slag not coming of when welding ( a decent bead) put rods in the oven for 1 hour at 100 degree that will sought them out I had damp 3.2 mm rods and it made them like new

Cheap and basic 6013 electrodes
Like many people, I saw a suitably cheap inverter welder in Lidl and thought that it was worth a go. The next problem, what stick/electrodes to buy to learn how to weld i.e. cheap but reasonable quality. I saw these electrodes on Amazon for a good price and decided to give them a go.Being the UK, these electrodes are 6013 which can mean many things in Europe (our American cousins get much more choice in electrodes and rarely seem to use 6013). The 6013 standard i.e. 6000 tensile strength, any position, rutile coating; seems to get many variations from European suppliers with other substances being added to coating like cellulose etc.I am pretty sure though that these are bog standard 6013 electrodes. So how do they burn? Well on my cheapo lidl inverter....okay. Now some of this might be down to my inexperience at this time but sometimes I get lovely rippled welds and sometimes I get bad slag inclusions (often the bane of 6013 apparently). The one thing that is consistent though, is the slag takes a little bit of effort to remove. Not excessive but don't expect peelers from these electrodes. They also need all of the 80A that my welder can provide to flow well, which is not unreasonable for a 2.5mm electrode.Would I buy these again? At the present moment, I am not sure. I am expecting to move on to a more powerful welder and will then be experimenting with other electrodes like 7018 and 7024. The general consensus is that once you use 7018 (even for hobby use i.e not worrying about the heating requirement), you tend to never use 6013 again. I will also be trying other manufacturer's 6013, to see if they work any better. There is also the potential that these rods might work better on my next welder as well.So time will tell. But at the moment, I consider these good value electrodes for learning welding with and basic DIY. If they like my next welder, I might even buy them again.
