I wish I would have gotten these sooner and did this with the older 3 kids as well!Very happy with this product!

I went with the eco-friendly blue tubs because I didn't want transparency. The blue eco-friendly tubs also looked a little thicker to me than the clear ones which, I felt, would help them be sturdier and not break in shipping to me as reported by so many. I took the gamble, because local stores did not have this size I really needed, and won. All 4 of my blue eco-friendly tubs came unbroken, including the lids. I wish the tubs were a little thicker/heavier, but overall I am very happy with them, they are thick enough, and they will work great for my files which was the intention of this purchase. They are not flimsy at all and I expect them to keep my files safe from moisture and other things that would harm files for the long haul. They are appropriate for garage storage as well. With that said, these are intended for files. You don't want to put too heavy of items in them. They are not meant for that. I am very happy with this purchase and very glad to get my files out of banker boxes and I know my papers are safer. I wrote this review because I felt bad the clear ones broke for so many, but want others to know these blue eco-friendly ones are great for this purpose and this is a safe buy.

I purchased 5 cartons of 4 each, so 20 total. The first 4 cartons arrived with no damage to the conents. The contents of the 5th carton, although packed exactly the same, sustained damage. The outer and inner cartons weren't damaged, but 2 of the 4 tubs were cracked and chipped on the upper lips and all 4 of the lids were cracked and chipped. So 18 out of 20 boxes and 16 out of 20 lids were great. The price was good, and they fit my needs. I whipped out my duct tape and patched up the broken boxes and lids and they are functional if not attractive. The ones available locally are so much more expensive that it is a wash. I'm satisfied, but it is a crxp shoot as to whether or not they will arrive intact.

I could not find filing boxes at a reasonable price at Staples or Home Depot and ordered these through Amazon. They are of good and practical size, good quality material and design.

I have purchased several batches of these for a purpose other than file storage. If all you need them for is to keep your tax return info, that you only access once in a blue moon, they should be fine for that. If not read on.My use case is to transport 14" laptops to classrooms. They are a perfect size for that because I haul the laptops around in neoprene sleeves for protection, and they just fit in the boxes. I pack them into a vehicle, stack them in a cart, haul them into class, return them to the vehicle, then repeat about 3 times a week. I'm not too rough with them, but they last about 12 months before I they need to be replaced. Usually, the lids crack, or the box base cracks. It seems like, as time has gone on, IRIS has made them thinner and reduced the quality of the plastic from which they are molded. Generally, I accept that because they are water resistant, minimize wasted space, stack well, and I try to buy them on sale when less than $6 each. Although I continue to buy them, I only rate them as a 3 star: quality could be a lot better.Be aware that in the case of "sold and shipped by Amazon", Amazon does a poor job of packaging for shipment. As you can see from the photos, one of my 2 most recent shipments arrived broken, even though the box was not significantly damaged. One problem is that these things shatter easily with a slight impact. The major contributing factor, though, is Amazon ships them out without any additional packing, just in the boxes provided by IRIS. Check out my photo of the box - the cardboard is very thin, and not really suitable as a sole shipping container. There is a high likelihood that your order may be received damaged.

I love these bins and they arrived damage free. I previously used the cardboard file Bo es and over time the cardboard would crush. I decided to give these a try and so far they are proving to be a great alternative. They stack well and work well with both standard file folders and hanging file folders. I have not used with legal sizes documents or files. I use with standard file folders for retention. That way I have additional room should I need to lay something on top. With hanging folders I have not yet had an issue with folders falling but do not have a lot of weight in any of the folders. The tabs hit just below the lid when closed. I am very happy with this purchase and will be purchasing a second set for file retention.One note, I would not consider them air tight as the lids don’t fit as securely as I would like. Sometimes it takes a little shushing to get them to click/lock on.Only hickup I encountered is more deliveries going through the post office. In our area they will not always delivery larger boxes which means I must go and pick them up from the post office. This is a huge inconvenience especially when you are paying for prime. I have also found that most deliveries routed this way are a day behind in delivery. In cases where they don’t deliver, I typically get the notice to pick it up a day after I was supposed to receive it. Then I can’t pick it up until at least the next day, longernif on a weekend.
