Battery life vs. resolution, power-on, charging, passthrough
Battery life varies with resolution. This may account for why some reviewers have less run time than the 9 hours advertised. From the manual:6 hours at 4K;8 hours at 1080;9 hours at 750.Hours will be lower than listed above if:Camera WiFi is on.Camera runs at high frame rate.To power on the device, long-press the power button. This does not seem to be in the manual. This battery pack sends power to the camera only when the camera is on. If the camera is on but not recording, its battery level increases. When the camera is off, the battery pack tries to charge the camera, but no charging received. This is not in the manual.Pass-through mode is not mentioned in the ads, but is in the manual. A USB charging wire to the battery pack passes through power to the camera, during which the battery pack and camera battery will not be used. The USB cable to the battery pack passes only power. To download video from the camera, the camera must be removed from the battery pack and then one must either plug a USB cable directly into the camera, or remove the camera's memory card.Do not mount this on a bicycle frame like I did or to other strongly vibrating platforms using commodity GoPro plastic mounts. The mount will break at the first rough pavement, because the weight of this this charger plus the GoPro will snap the mount, then when the assembly hits the ground the impact may break the hinge of this charger making it unusable, all of which happend to me.

๐ Very Cool ๐
An Amazing Product ๐ Works Great !!!I just got this today and fully charged it before use. I Love It !!!It does weigh a little bit, but not a bother for me. Also makes my cam a bit bigger in my hand, but I like it's easier to hold onto in my bigger manly hands. (the GoPro's are a very small cam).I LOVE the fact that I do not have to change batteries every 45-60 min. This thing can go for Hours๐ It's 5000 MAh.It does get warm after recording for a while, but was Not a bother at all. (and I'm in California).I do like that this battery pack charges with the standard Micro USB and not the USB-C, (This unit has a USB-C connector inside, to plug into the GoPro, and a MicroUSB on the outside to charge/power the unit+GoPro). ALL of my other device use MicroUSB, so I am happy I can charge this most anywhere.I Love this device, it works Great and hope it lasts for years ๐

Flimsy Design and Build
The Refuel Action Pack Extended Battery looks great on paper. Unfortunately, its mechanical design is bad. It simply isn't designed for bike road and trail riding. Where the bike mount slips into the Refuel case, it is so flimsy that it broke after about 10 bike rides. If the case and GoPro weren't mounted to its bike mount and thus took its weight and momentum load of the mount, it would probably be okay; however, that's not how us bikers use the Refuel. We use it to ride with the GoPro.Another weak link is in its case. It cleverly swivels at the top by lifting a tab. The mechanism is again too flimsy. After about 4 rides, I lifted the latch to take the GoPro out and download files. As I was lifting it, the latch broke where it swivels. For a while, I used a rubber band to keep the swivel arm down. I'm not looking for waterproof, so it was a temporary fix until I located something else. But it looked mighty cheap to the other bikers who saw it and bike with GoPros. Both they and I pronounced the Refuel is a clever concept but pile of junk. It's too bad for a product that is a clever design on paper but totally useless after 10 bike rides.

It's a lifesaver
I have nine of these, and am getting ready to order a backup. they are used when I video dog competitions - rain, shine, cold, or hot. I no longer have to worry about battery backups being strapped to camera stands and making sure my cables are there too; or about being able to film outside in rain (or snow).I do agree that the latch on top is weak, but contact the company and they work with you.and yes, they are sturdy. I've had tripods knocked over by wind and people. these have fallen from as high up as 6' onto concrete, slate, tile, wood, gravel, and grass, and still work fine.

Bracket too light for the weight of the battery pack with motorcycle vibration
The bracket that holds the battery pack to the battery, mounted on a Ram ball mount, is too light weight to hold up under the stress of the weight of the battery pack and camera on a motorcycle and broke just BEFORE a shooting segment that was key to the journey. I have resolved that by making my own mounting system. With that issue being resolved, this battery pack allows the GoPro to be a truly useful tool. I run it plugged in to the motorcycle and the battery never runs out of power. Amazing. I turn the video on and just run with it, then edit the video later.GREAT product.Fix the clip, please.

They are so great!
These little units (I bought two) have been incredible. Dead simple to use, bulletproof, and offers HOURS of trouble free recording and charging for the GoPro, which is great because I mount them externally and cannot effectively switch them on and off. I highly recommend these units.
