Q: Could this be installed outside and withstand rain/sun?

Another responder referred to a plastic casing. The model I bought had a stainless steel body, which was why I got it - to go onto a hot water line that a plastic casing would not be suitable for. As far as holding up to rain/sun, I don't think they would affect the stainless steel at all. As stated earlier, it would not be suitable for a location subject to freezing. Another issue I would point out is that the gasket is very thin and easy to pinch when putting the body back onto the head. Extra gaskets would be prudent, but were not available through Amazon when I purchased mine. Through the manufacturer the gaskets were only a few bucks apiece, but shipping cost more than the gaskets.
