just buy it. relax.
Before I wrote this review, I looked at some of the bad reviews out of curiosity. Now, I haven't finished reading this book, but it was pretty easy for me to see the light sarcasm and humor in the book right away. It's interesting really, because it is so clearly written by 4 good girlfriends, and that really comes through. It's written in a way that is similar to that of how you would talk to a friend. It's comfortable, informal, and a light read. If you're looking for clarifying your own identity through this book, it's not for you. It's still insightful and makes me think I'm chic for never using a straw at a restaurant, but the point of the book is very clearly: be who you are, and be really comfortable in your own skin. Don't be so concerned about age, think about things worth thinking about - not over thinking an outfit or blah blah blah.If you don't like sacrasm, don't buy the book. If you're comfortable in your skin and want light reading - this is for you.

Beautiful and Heartwarming
Reading through the one star reviews after reading this book I can say that I understand where they are coming from but this book isn't supposed to be incredible sophisticated or a proper novel, its a salut to women. Its a beautiful and graceful book that you can take anywhere and read little sections whenever you feel the need. Just the other day I went to a cafe and sat down and pulled it out of my bag and had a wonderful time just flicking through my favourite bits and reiterating the things that I love about this book. Yes it may be a little miss matched or a little here-there but thats what makes it interesting, its not one type of book its several types in a dynamic whole. I love this book, it is so incredibly charming and heartwarming whether you take it seriously or not. Its a cute little way to relax and escape your reality. I love it because its quirky and fresh, everything I could have hoped for.

I'm not the right audience
My interest in the french culture and being Parisian stems from my interest in Coco Chanel, the woman. Her life story fascinates me and I'm always looking for anything written about her and her life. I also really enjoy books written by Mireille Guiliano and by Americans living in Paris trying to raise children in French society. So it's no surprise that this book piqued my interest when I saw it referenced by someone I follow on Instagram. I downloaded it to my kindle and finished it in a weekend. It's a quick, easy read. I can't say I didn't like the book, it just wasn't for me: a 45 year old, professional, married, mother of two, happy living the typical American suburban life. Other than the recipes, and a few fashion and style tips not much else can be gleaned from the book and applied to my life. But, if you are young, single and trying to be a Parisian Carrie Bradshaw - this book is for you!

Treat yourself –– you'll never get bored reading this (even after the 100th time).
I absolutely love this book. I have always been enthralled by French culture, and I love Caroline de Maigret, so I decided that I needed this book. And I have NO regrets at all. I am always FaceTiming my mother (who also loves France very much) and reading her the funniest (and truest) excerpts from this book. I've read it several times since purchasing. You will really love this book. Lots of laughs, great stories, and a good head-clearing book as well for the end of the day. Read this with a nice glass of wine, treat yourself! Love the price and love the quality. (P.S. you will also love the book cover paper. it is fancy-feeling).

Pretentious and shallow
My husband bought this book for me. The fault here does not lie with the authors as much as with whoever commissioned this book. It would have had so much more substance had the authors been allowed to grow up first, to mature and become interesting human beings first and foremost. The makings of beautiful writing is here, but they are simply not old enough to impart anything of substance, to convey the philosophy and depth that underlies the soul of the Parisian woman I have met in fiction and biographical works. If I’m still alive twenty-five years from now, I’d love to see who they have become. Now it feels inauthentic and immature to the extreme. The cost of the book targets the wrong audience, the average instagram follower in the age-group of 14 to 23 year-old may like this and find it an easy read, but may not be able to afford it.

Enjoyed it but felt a bit dumber for having read it
Cliche filled book. Fun to read, but once I was finished I wish I would have done something else with my time.
