Skeptical and surprised it worked
I don't usually write product reviews but decided to on this item because I was skeptical. We had squirrels or some sort of other rodent living in the space between the ceiling and the roof. I mounted this repeller on the outside of the house pointed into one of the small vent holes on the roofline and had it running 24/7. We heard them moving away from the repeller/noise the next day to a different part of the ceiling, but after 2 days we didn't hear anything else. Seriously, they are gone after having been moving around up there for a week. I'm leaving it plugged in for another week while I find where the animals gained access and plug it up. This thing worked.

Uses 2 outlet sockets and defective
Firstly, mine are both defective. The silent mode makes and audible sound and the other modes are much worse. They are plenty annoying so if they functioned as marketed outside human (and pet) range; then they'd serve their purpose incredibly. I felt disappointed and frustrated with the design but after realizing mine is defective and experiencing the noise it makes for myself for only a moment I feel angry and short-changed.This has so much plastic above the plug that you cannot use the other plug in a typical outlet. I suppose this is why they added the USB charger, but I'd rather have a smaller, far less expensive product, that let's me use my outlets. Also it's unclear to me now if this is supposed to charge or _be charged_ via USB.The packaging includes no useful information about how to change the settings or what color corresponds to which meaning that you need to refer to the marketing material online for this information. There you will notice no pictures of this plugged in to a socket. Were you to assume this works I'd still give it low marks for ease of use by the way it needlessly consumes outlet space.

The setting #3 (blue light) was enough to make a raccoon leave my house.
These work great. I had a raccoon who got in through a large roof vent and was over my library ceiling. She couldnāt access the attic from there, but I needed to get her out. Important to know that this is winter, and she was therefore not pregnant and not with pups. One critical thing I learned, is that setting one of these repellers at the highest noise setting (blue light), was sufficient to get her to come out. The instructions say they should be kept vertical and not allowed to become horizontal. So I took a plastic jug 3āx5ā,6ā and cut a place for the plug-in prongs to fit through from the outside of the jug and added some heavy stoned to keep it upright. I then put the receptacle end of an extension cord inside, tied a knot within a few inches and put the plug through a hole I cut in the screw top of the jar. I lowered the pest repeller taped outside of the jug with the extension cord attached inside, and lowered it into the house through the vent. This was to keep it vertical so it wouldnāt lay down which it would otherwise have done. However, I found out that if they get unplugged or you have an outage, even brief, they will reset at the lowest setting. I wanted the highest noise setting. What happened is that at first it worked, then it didnāt and she went right back in. Hereās what happened: within 1 day of the Pest Repeller being inside with the raccoon, she got uncomfortable and came out of the roof vent she had been entering. I was planning to catch her off the roof so I could install a cage box I ordered (and was waiting to receive) over the vent to keep her out. After staying away, the next day she came back and went right in. I was frustrated, then remembered a brief outage the day before. I went on the roof and retrieved the unit and saw it was reset on the lowest setting. So I reset it and put it back in the opening and also added another one I bought. I figured out with this one, all I really had to do was to plug the unit into the receptacle end of an extension cord, tape them together, then lower it down, but not let it bottom out, which kept it vertical. The reason they have to be taped together is because it could come unplugged and the unit would be gone. The cage box that I had ordered finally arrived and I decided to make it like a trapā¦to trap her outside of it. I installed 2 hinges in the back with that side upwards on the roof, positioned so that if closed, it would completely enclose the vent. On the front, (lower side of the roof) I set it up so the front was held up with 2 sticks. That night she came out and knocked over the sticks, the cage dropped down and she was locked out. Yay!!! The main thing was to bring her out and the Ultrasonic Pest Repeller did the job. Otherwise she would still be in there. By the way, the reason I knew so much about what she was doing is that I temporarily hooked up a Ring Stickup Camera and it would wake me up at night when she was out on the roof. That helped a lot, because when she finally got locked out, I was not home and out to dinner with friends. I raced home and she was gone.

No more squirrels
We had squirrels in the attic on and off for a year. Itās a challenge to get into the attic. Set up a similar device in the attic, which has repelled the squirrels. But they kept coming back every so often. A tree fell in my yard and then they came back more often. So I decided to buy another, this device, which looked similar to the other. They are different. The other is pretty low and we keep it inside. But this one - top level - red and white - holy cow. I decided to set the device up outside near where the squirrels seemed to enter the attic. This is early summer. I havenāt seen a squirrel in 3 week. Not even anywhere near the property. You can hear periodic noises when itās set to red/white outside. But if you just set it and forget it for like 2 weeks⦠No more squirrels, no more chipmunks. They have all disappeared. But so did the birds. They stopped landing in the yard. So I just disconnected the device now for a week. Still see no squirrels. Birds are coming back. But the squirrels got the hint and the hell out of dodge - without harm - which is what I wanted. I recommend shielding the device from weather. I donāt believe or know about its waterproofing. But if you have a squirrel problem and donāt have access to your attic or wall - get one of these. Set it up outside for a couple weeks and those buggers will flee - harm free.
