APC Easy Ups Bv 650va, Avr, Universal Outlet, 230v

Sadly, the reviews of the "smell" are true, and the build quality is far from the fantastic products APC made many years ago. Waited a month to write this review, and, while faint, I can still smell the plastic odor of the unit in my living room. It does get hot, and no doubt that is where the heated plastic smell is coming from. I have not had any power outages yet to test this unit, so who knows how long it will last. This unit is replacing a Tecnoware UPS that hardly lasted a year, just outside of warranty. I purchased this since I had APC products in the past and they were good quality. However, this unit does not seem to be that old APC standard, so I don't have high hopes this is a good product.

Seems to do the job, but it burns so much excess energy by staying at a toasty temperature in normal operating conditions. Smells hot, like they are dumping power into large ceramic resistors. Doesn’t seem like a modern design.
