Tears
Love the book 📙!!!! Had some tears which isn't bad. It wasn't the company's fault it was the shipping probably.

Unplug and enjoy!
Mary Alice Monroe has long been my favorite adult author. She and Angela May did not disappoint with this new middle grade book. Jake dreads the move to Dewees Island with his grandmother after his dad is wounded in Afghanistan. He’s not used to be completely disconnected: no internet, cell phones, or video games. What he finds is so much better! With the help of his two new friends, Macon and Lovie, he becomes quite the naturalist, falling in love with the Lowcountry. Many surprises and adventures await on Dewees, and he must learn how to adapt. This novel shows readers that yes life is full of unexpected ups and downs. Life throws us challenges, but if is how we deal with those challenges that matter. This wonderful novel is full of family, friendship, nature, and fun! It is a must read for all ages!I love that it has adventure as well as teaches about the nature you can find on Dewees and of course other areas. This novel has inspired me to do my own research. I’ve always been passionate about turtles, but now I’m curious about so much more.Do yourself a favor, purchase this book! (I received this book as an advanced copy in exchange for my honest reviews but have purchased four copies now. #BookPosse

An adventure back to your youth
I can’t say enough about this book! It is truly fabulous! A book for middle school readers, but in my opinion, a book for any age. If your child can’t read, read it with them every day as a summer book club. They will love it and so will you.The Islanders is a walk back in time. No Internet, no phones, no video games. Just outdoor exploring, making new friends and wonderful memories as the fun you’re having teaches you more than just facts, but life lessons. This book gives a wonderful surprise for readers of Mary Alice Monroe’s Beach House series, with one of the three children in the book being our very own Little Lovie 😍🐢and of course a Turtle Team, and I would swear we get a visit from Delphine the dolphin 🐬 from her Lowcountry series!Try something new, go outside and explore, you never know what you might find! Such a fun read! I laughed, I reminisced, I cried, I was so excited by every page reliving the days of running around like a wild thing in the woods and down the beach! Thank you, Mary Alice Monroe and Angela May for this wonderful book! Can’t wait for another! Great job!!!

My 10 year old is enjoying!
A great adventure book with some education thrown in. My son is more of a graphic novel kid but I’m encouraging him to read more chapter books. He loves it and is asking for the next one.

A wonderful middle grade read for readers of all ages!
I. Loved. The Islanders! And already am wishing for a sequel! Mary Alice Monroe so seamlessly transitioned from the well-scripted beach read to middle grade novelist - I truly was surprised how quickly I flew through this novel. The characters are relatable with authentic problems/feelings/reactions and dialogue and the plot moves quickly through the summer. It has been a while since I've read a book that would be a good fit for so many different types of readers, and The Islanders definitely fits the bill. I've already picked up a copy for my classroom and am working on my book talk! Thanks so much to #NetGalley for the opportunity to preview #TheIslanders by Mary Alice Monroe. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to sharing it with my students.
