Looks Cool, Very hit or miss quality, crappy ink converter, but it it's ridiculously cheap,
bought a green one and a maroon one. The green one writes fine, but the maroon one was a bit leaky. The pens look cool and expensive, but feel a bit light and cheap when you pick them up. I got fine point. Its about the same as a Japanese (pilot) medium. I also bought the "Dr" version of this pen. It seems like it might be a slightly bit better in quality. It had a thinner barrel, so parts are probably not interchangeable. All of them had one major problem, The convertor. It is a convertor only pen, and the convertors are terrible. They have very little capacity, and don't want to fill much past half full if that. I suppose it could be converted to an eyedropper pen, but there is a small vent hole on the ens of the barrel that would have to be filled in, and I was getting some leakage from one around the nib, so I don't know if I would trust it as an eyedropper. QC is very variable from pen to pen, but There not really any hooded nib pens in this price range to compare to, so I would buy 2-3 and one of them at least should be serviceable. I really like the way they look, and for the price I wasn't expecting Japanese quality, so I feel they are a reasonable value and am fairly satisfied with them.If you aren't set on a Parker style hooded nib, and are just looking for a cool and cheap (under $20) FP, this is probably not what you are looking for.2 good alternatives are...The Jinhao x750 or it's clone the Bulow X750 are nice heavy Brass filled all metal Executive-CEO type pens. They are of much better quality. You can get them individually for about 7, or in a 5 pack of different colour finishes for 38. they also can take nemosine, knox or goulet pens #6 nibs in different widths and tip styles. I bought the Bulow 5 pack and I love them. For about 15-18 you can get a Japanese made Pilot Metropolitan. It has a metal case, but it is aluminum, so not as heavy as the bulow/jinhao. They are available in several different finishes and colours. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Not quite a Parker, but far from an insult to the Icon
I love my 51, but after I put a scratch in the barrel, I decided to consign it to mostly home/special occasion use, and set off in search of a daily writer in the same style. I know the market for Parker knock-offs is extensive, and I have only tried this one, but I must say, I am impressed. The nib lays a Western fine line, and, in keeping with the tradition of its inspiration, is stiff as a nail; don't expect any swooping calligraphy here. That said, it is an almost tediously reliable starter, and pleasant enough writer, if a bit on the scratchy side (this is mostly a matter of aesthetics; it has little impact on the writing itself). For this reason, I am skeptical about the description's claim of a gold-plated nib. The small portion that protrudes from the hood does not look particularly gold-like to me, but I have not disassembled then pen to make sure. If I ever do, I shall update the review, but it writes well enough that I am not overly concerned. All in all, a solid, solid pen. The wine red barrel is gorgeous, though a bit thin in places (for example, the feed is a visible discoloration through the hood. From a distance, it could easily be mistaken for a genuine Parker, even bearing a no doubt copyright-infringing Parker Arrow clip. In hand, it is lighter, but still feels good between the fingers. As a final note, I will say that after I first inked the pen, I did notice a few drops of ink on the hood, perhaps spatter from the nib, perhaps a leak in the sac. After the first few days of use, the problem went away, but I shall update the review if I see anything further.

Buy it If you can turn a Junk to be a good pen!
Be honest You have to be a handyman to fix these problems if you want to feel good during writing:1st, the nib is too short for normal writing posture, I fixed it by added a thin plastic ring under the nib.2nd, the ink flow is not enough for fast writing, I fixed by punched 2 tiny holes on the Wall of tubing in the ink converter.3nd, the nib is not polished well for writing. I used a lot of paper for scribing to finely polished it.If you are not going to use it for Chinese calligraphy practice. Don’t waste money!Only Chinese known how to fix this Junk and turn it to be a great writing pen. After I figured out how to refurbish this pen , now it works great for my Chinese Calligraphy practices!

A best thing money can buy.
This pen is a best thing money can buy, which is reminiscent of the days when I was a young student.

Just right!
I used to travel to China a lot, and I liked to pick up fountain pens while I was there, because they were inexpensive and good for writing Chinese characters. I ended up with a good number of them, and at one point, I picked out my favorite- a Hero 616. I used it off and on for ten years. At some point, I picked up a TWSBI fountain pen, as well, but I kept gravitating back to the Hero. I guess I just like the feel of it- kudos to the original Parker design, I suppose- haven't used the pen this one is copied from.I lost my old Hero a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd see if this was the same pen. Sure enough! It seems to start readily, has a fine but not too fine line, and decently smooth. I'm glad to be able to buy one of these and have it shipped to me from across the world for under $7.

NIce for the price
I have been trying to bring back the art of using fountain pens. This pen has a reservoir that you have to fill and I find that I am filling it about once every 2 weeks. Although it does have the potential to leak I have found that as long as I don't get crazy and make exaggerated movements the ink stays in the pen and goes only on the paper. This is a great pen if you want to give fountain pens a try but don't want to go overboard on the expense. I would also recommend you look at the disposable pens as a starter to see if you enjoy how fountain pens write.

The description is wrong on this listing.
It's not a gold nib. It does not take standard international anything — the squeeze bulb that holds the ink (originally called "Aerometric filler" by Parker) is integral and molded in, so you can't remove it, you can't use cartridges or standard converters. You use the included, non-removable filler. But it writes well and is reliable and relatively durable, especially for the price.

Details pratiques insuffisants

Fountain pen
Great Value for a copy of the Parker 51 which I incidently also own from the old and the new versions.I am particularly fond of small nibs and hero makes them very well.

Ottima
